So I just hopped onto the xbox game pass app and Halo Infinite was there and it said I could pre-install it both campaign and multiplayer both being 50 GB, however when I went to install it it just installed a random 10.1 MB thing and I can’t launch it either of course, is anyone else having this issue? Or do they just don’t want people to pre-install at this time? Also about the file size, the data mined file size said 98 GB not 100 GB so is the file size actually 50 for both? Or is that just an xbox game pass app thing?

Your basically downloading a shell saying you want to download it when it comes out.
Is there supposed to be only 1 download? The store page says there’s mp and campaign included, but I only have 1 file (which shows a picture of the mp).

Thats how pre install works. It will update closer to launch with a full install, then It will drop an activation key on launch day and provided theres no DOP you’ll be set to go day 1.
Also does the mp cover art suggest an open beta on the horizon?
it will take a long time, but it’s good to stay as an ornament
Yeah, I got confused as well since the icon for the install just shows “Halo Infinite Multiplayer” I assume my gamepass download will update and also will include campaign come launch? Because I was under the impression that multiplayer and campaign would be separate downloads.
EDIT: If you scroll all the way down to the bottom, under
”In this bundle” you see both “Halo Infinite” and “Halo Infinite (Campaign)”
The Pre installed version usually gets updated a week before games launch.
so it downloads the whole game and is ready to play before launch.
I am also so confused, I pre installed for game pass but I can’t tell if it includes campaign or not, I would really like to not have to pay for campaign separately from game pass
You’re downloading a placeholder so that when the actual game launches, it will update it and release all the actual content the game should have so you can play it Day 1, it’s just a pre-order practically.
`curl halo-infinite’
thats normal for xbox preloads when they dont want you preloading the Whole game right then but will before launch. wonder when steam pre-loads will go live?

If you pre installed in Game Pass, then it’s the campaign version of Infinite. As a poster stated in this thread, if you go back to halo infinite in the MS Store, and go down to “in this bundle”, you can select to download the MP version of Infinite as well.

It doesn’t matter what you pick. I accidentally picked just the multiplayer first and when I went back for the campaign it was the same download.
This is how pre-loads always work on Gamepass: When the game is added to the “Coming Soon” section, you can click Pre-load (this isn’t always an option, only if they intend for that game to have a pre-load at some point); this allocates the drive space and downloads a 10Mb holding file. Then when the actual pre-load is available, it will download it without any further interaction on your part. Or you can just wait until the actual pre-load is available (I downloaded the actual pre-load for Forza Horizon 6 last night). Unfortunately there is no way to tell which it is without clicking through, but if it more than 2 or 3 weeks before the actual launch, assume it isn’t an actual pre-load yet, but a pre-allocation.
As for Halo Infinite, it is only the ‘free’ (i.e. it is available even to non Gamepass customers for no charge) multiplayer that is currently listed on the store for pre-allocation - there is nothing yet for the Campaign which will presumably be a complete separate install to the MP.
EDIT: Actually, the Campaign IS available to pre-allocate on PC, but only via the Store App - it doesn’t show up in the Xbox app.
EDIT AGAIN: Nope! Although it lists the Infinite Campaign as a separate app on the Store, if you pre-allocate, it just reverts back to the MP, so no wonder everyone is so confused!
