Pre-Game Lobby

So I just found out that in the pre-game lobby you can’t hear/see the other teams mics

So no more trash talking pre-game to make them more interesting anymore? I actually kinda miss it now

This actually explains why I thought nobody talks anymore in Halo 4

This now upsets me, And sorry if this has been posted before, I haven’t been keeping track

But at least you know who’s going to be on your team before the match begins. This gives me more time to check my each of my teammate’s K/D ratio and plan the initial rush accordingly.

For example, if most of my teammates have low K/D, then I go after the sniper and railgun on Ragnarok and Longbow because they’ll most likely end up wasting them. Otherwise, I play normally.

This explains a lot because I thought before that people would mask the fact they were as a party if not in party chat (so devoid of the party chat icon).

Don’t miss it. Its all the trash talking and listening to some crappy music someone is playing that made mics go away.

I understand why they have made these moves but I do miss the pre game banter. It also made the post game banter that much richer. I still have nightmares that echo “bought 50, bought 50” over and over…

However, if they’re keeping ranks outside of the game I think it would be nice to return the pre game lobby chat across teams. Some of the funniest moments from Halo 2 & 3 were from Pre/Post game trash talking.

When people trash talk it just makes them look stupid and immature.

I don’t.

Only if they lose

So if they win, that gives them the right? I say no.

They also got rid of proximity chat.

I guess everyone has to be a winner in 343’s mind. Only positive feelings…

To a certain extent, I say yes

It makes the game more entertaining, even more so when they stay and want a rematch

I miss the competitive aspect of halo. Back when we had true skill ranking and lobbies that let you trash talk for at least 2 minutes before a game would start. Ahh good times.

I was raised to respect my opponents, not belittle them. Whether humorous or angering, trash talking is disrespectful of others.

I find that if an opponent is a worthy adversary during the previous match, he is worthy of a rematch. No exchange of words, polite nor harsh, need to be said.

In terms of objective games I miss proximity chat so very much. Stealth into a Zanzibar base during CTF/Assault and just royally mess with the other teams plans at that key moment.

Pure gaming gold I tell you, bring that feature back for Halo 5 please.

I think trash talk is part of competitive gaming and being able to back it up makes your victory that much sweeter.

While I find the jesting trashing acceptable, the out and out belittlement I do not find excusable. There’s always that guy that you play with that you razz on, but to put someone down is another story.

I have not participated in pregame trashing, so if it is meant in lightheartedness, then I redact me previous statement.

I think it is all in your personal definition of trash talking. When I say it I define it like in the old Bungie ViDocs, mates playing together and giving some friendly stick to each other for the interest of riling your mates up.

I do NOT define Trash Talking as immature racial slurs or music played through a mic etc, that side of trash talking can be left behind thanks.

I miss proximity chat, I would get a ton of assassinations in Reach using it.

That I would constitute as razzing or lighthearted. I see no problem with that.

My disagreement would be harassment/belittlement which you also seem to disapprove of.

Yeag, I noticed a while ago that you can only hear the other team when after the game is finished. I think for a short time…
