Praise Halo 4

What do you like about Halo 4?
(please do not answer negatively as this is meant to be a break from those posts)

First off the graphics are amazing. They are by far the best I’ve seen in any game. I love the use of lights and the shadows and rays they cast. Both multiplayer and campaign maps are solid and beautiful. I especially love the jungle in the Infinity mission, the purplish-orange forerunner hallways of Midnight and the crepuscular rays on Haven as well as the sound of reloading in the corridors of that map. All cutscenes(campaign and spartan ops) are simply incredible and seem to meet that of current day movies if not better.

343 starts each week off with a multiplayer update that keeps me excited. Very few companies have that much dedication to do that weekly. I like the new Spartan Ops missions each week. I think they are an improvement on firefight. Playing them for the first time feels almost like the campaign and replaying them again and again feels the good old firefight.

I love just how many weapons there are in War Games. And there are three unique snipers and mid-rangish weapons(dmr, br and carbine), who could hate that. I love all the weapon skins, visors and helmets. I love how it doesn’t take months level like Reach as the specializations are fun to rank up through and never need more than 63,000 xp. I think the Mantis is a great addition to the vehicles and I always race to get it, that and ghosts (splattering is fun).

Halo 4’s forge is better than Reach’s. The three forge maps are more than big enough for any forge creation and are all inherently different and fresh. Magnets make forge much quicker. I also use duplicate a lot as I find it very useful. I can’t wait till file share comes out to see all the new maps and custom games. And so on…

So once again what do you like about Halo 4?

Pretty much everything <3

I especially love the weapon sounds. Just… amazing. Each sound distinct.

Have a cookie and a monocle for this positive thread my friend!

I only like the graphics.

Graphics, sound effects, gameplay… and pretty much everything else. I personally don’t have any gripes with Halo 4. Sure, I will always support a ranking system similar to Halo 2/3, but it doesn’t change my opinion of the game: Halo 4 is awesome and in my opinion it is the best in the franchise so far. And that goes for the Campaign as well - I thought the story and the character development was the best we’ve seen… although I could have gone for a little less Terminal-storytelling and a little more in-game story history, but hey, it was still great.

Also Spartan Ops is great. I wasn’t so sure about it at first but it’s really starting to get interesting and I think the concept is fantastic - mini Campaign’s to keep the story going. Very nice job.

Spartans ops, Campaign, Graphics. And pretty much most things CoD lacks in MY Taste.
(Not trying to start fan-boy arguments but come on, lets be honest?)

This

I enjoy it all, nice to get halo with a new feel to it.

A nice, positive spin on the game. You have my thanks, OP.

I would also like to note how they added some emotion in Halo 4s campaign. It was a quality change that the previous games lacked a bit.

I actually felt kinda -Yoink!- about Cortana’s fate. I have a feeling she’ll be back somehow.

She was sexualized to the point where it would be hard NOT to bring her back.

I dont know about that…In every Halo game she was in I have never heard one single sexual remark about her at all. In fact, this very action practically gives me some sort of weird respect for her even though shes not real. I havent been able to fine another game that even slightly does this.

As for the game. I have no complaints. Glad to see there are at least a few people on this forum who aren’t as high maintenance as the countless others I’ve seen.

Big fan of the game. I like some of the detail they managed to pull off. Love the new warthog. SO much detail was added to it. Im also a big Spartan Opts fan. Im glad that we are getting more story and that we get to see the new charaters and what they really are and who they are. I dont really mind that the maps have been reused i care more for what we get out of it.

Not trying to argue or deny your opinion as everyone is entitled to it. But do you think the didact’s character development was very good? Personally I dont think it was good at all. As he is the main enemy, the biggest threat yet and the leader of all forerunner military, it just didnt felt like he was…

He was barely in the game didnt say or do much, he was was like vigilante constantly on the run through out the campaign. He just didnt seem to feel like humanities greatest threat.

Also it was never properly explained in the campaign what the didacts motives were, his plans and why he is doing the things he’s doing. I know the terminals go into a little more detail, but since the terminals were always about background stories and are kinda separate and a part of the main story in the campaign. Bur they felt too separated from the main story in halo 4 and the fact we have to watch them outside of the game makes the gap even bigger.

Another thing about the characters is that no one was surprised or shocked to see the chief especially since all of humanity thought he was dead and even more so no one even made as much as a flinch when they seen the didact, a living breathing forerunner who is very very angry and no one was even shocked. So the lack of communication, emotion and interaction from the characters made me seem like nothing was a big deal, it never got me focused or properly interested into whats going on.

Again this is just a genuine discussion and not arguing, sorry for the long post :stuck_out_tongue: .

I love the faster gameplay, redone weapons on map, personal ordnance, and good old halo 3 speed and jump height. Despite what people say customs are also great.

I agreewith you there he just felt kind of empty character wise the terminal vids did shed a lot of light on his motivations for what hes doing but in the story as you said he just runs most of the time and really kind of treats MC as some sort of insect like he dosent even care.

I pretty much like everything about it except for some minor things that annoy me, overall, I love this game and it’s one of my favorite Halo games.

Some of the things I like most:

-Forerunner weapons!
-Return of Master Chief and Cortana
-Amazing graphics
-Ordinance Drops
-Spartan Ops, and I got to say, I like it more than Firefight, and I LOVED Firefight
-Didact, just because of the voice actor

All you have to do is look at her to know that her definition has been filled out and 343 gave her -Yoink!- appeal. If you cannot see this, you are blind.

I am not saying I have a huge problem with it. There is -Yoink!- appeal in lots of games.

I am just pointing out the obvious.

You want to know my thoughts on Halo 4?
Like any self respecting fan, I played story first. (I’m joking, calm down.)
While playing story, I think it was about the 2nd mission, just after crashing planetside.
You know that scene on the boxart? (Edit: It wasnt the box art, I can’t quite recall where I saw the scene, but obviously it stuck with me.) You know, master chief standing all epically on the cliff’s edge? I RECREATED that scene, completely by accident. I was so awed by the scene in the backdrop, that I literally walked off the path to the cliff side to admire the scenery.
And that’s only the BEGINNING.
Besides all of the epic shenanigans in Campaign,
zombies have their own SKINS? The FLOOD TALON?
All of these fancy pantsy ARMOR ABILITIES?

SPARTAN OPS!?!!?!
SPARTAN…
WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN…
GWASAKFASAA

cough
Hmm… I really like Halo 4, I love it as much as 3 and Reach. (Not quite as much as ODST though. :/)
All of the hate for it holds no ground for me.
