So I’ve been playing Halo for about 1 week now and I was wondering what the best way to improve is. I am still new to using a controller for FPS and it is rather frustrating at first, but I am starting to get the hang of it. I am non-stop playing slayer to improve, but I’m wondering if there are methods with better results.
When I used to play a lot of CS:GO you had these practice/aim maps and people to practice with. I was wondering if there are any of these maps or methods to practice. I’ve checked the custom maps but as of now I’ve not found something I can use.
Do you guys have any special routines and/or maps to improve your game?

Octagon is a map where two people play on it. You spawn basically right in front of each other so it’s all about aim and reaction time as to who comes out on top. A lot of the more hardcore players use it to improve their clutch skills and a lot of very young children like to challenge other players to 1 v1 them in order to help their miniscule self-esteem.

That’s why I want forge practice dummies so I can do it just in my time not some one else’s as well
What works for me: play through all of the campaign on easy, get massively disappointed in how it plays out (besides the few wonderful blue team moments) then…go to Multiplayer, screw around in warzone for about 60 matches, burn through all of silvers by accident buying all Golds, find out buying silvers is much more effective, get massively disappointed in yourself, then go play a ton of swat, go tryhard, get ranked platinum, get even more disappointed in yourself, cry a lil bit, then play only warzone, infection, and grifball.
Breakout did wonders for my aim. You start with only a shotty and a magnum. There are very few options on the maps to choose from. However, my head shot aim drastically improved with the magnum and that tends to translate to the other guns. Also, try not to rely so heavily on ADS. Unless the shot is from a vast distance (long enough to warrant a LONGSHOT medal) I don’t ADS 98% of the time. It takes up more time to do so not to mention you have to adjust your aim again when you could have been doing all that without ADS already.
A lot of time I will start out playing FFA, and maybe some Swat mixed in to help me get warmed up before I head in and start getting serious.
However, since you are coming in fresh from learning how to use a controller and get used to it I would recommend playing the campaign through on Legendary first. You will get used to the controls first before heading into matchmaking. You need to keep in mind that a lot of the players you are coming up against have been playing Halo a while not just Halo 5. They are a little more comfortable with how the controller feels.
The Octagon is a great way to warm up as well. All you need is a good group to help you with that.
The last thing I would recommend is looking at the maps in customs of forge. You can learn the power weapon placements, and good routes to take. Oh and take some time to watch some videos. This guy, Luke the Notable has some good tips.
