I used this combo in a slayer match on Plaza last night. Just almost unfair. The boltshot can kill in 1-2 headshots (not bursts, actual bullets) after a Plasma Pistol overcharge, it has homing capabilities, and has a pretty fast switch time (not as fast as the magnum, but almost). I think this is almost unfair, and felt bad (but good at the same time… ) using it to get super easy kills.
Gotta try it now haha. Voids tear and bolt shot in war zone and see how many people I can wreck. Currently I have Zero bolt shot kills so this should help towards commendations lol.
Plasma pistol + BR/DMR is still better. They are hit scan so the kill shot is instant, unlike the bolt shot which has travel time, and it only takes on bullet to the head after shields are down. The bolt shot is a powerful weapon but the orginal noob combo is still the superior choice.
You have to aim at the head, and slightly lead where they are going to be to make the homing most effective for the second and third round of the burst. I’ll have to double check later, but I think if you land all 3 shots of the burst (regardless of headshot) when their shields are down it’s a kill, at least after a PP overcharge. If you get a headshot, you might only need 1 bullet, It could be one headshot + one body shot. I’m unsure cuz I only did it a few times. I didn’t get the noob combo medal , but this is because although headshots are bonuses for the Boltshot, it’s not a true precision with an instant kill headshot, so it’s not eligible for headshot medal or related medals.

Perhaps. it depends on the range. If you are in fairly close quarters, where bullet travel time isn’t a huge factor, Boltshot is a good choice. Plus it’s switch time is alot faster than those weapons. My point is that it makes the noob combo even MOAR NOOB! Lol.
If you are skilled, objectively PP+Magnum is the best, because of the reasons you stated, and the fact that the magnum has the fastest switch time in the game (no source, just feels here). But if you are feeling lazy, having a bad game, or just want to troll, PP+Boltshot is super easy.

That makes sense to me. Still that sounds fun as hell to try bolt shot lol

This. I have been confused as to why there aren’t more people using the Plasma Pistol/Noob Combo in general. EMP Assists and Noob Combos are great ways to work with your team and get kills. The homing for the PP is better this game than in past ones, I suspect that using the Zoom improves the homing even further, which makes it a devastating tool, especially when used in concert with a teammate or two.
If you’re working alongside a teammate with the Boltshot, Magnum, Light Rifle, DMR, Carbine or BR out, the two of you can tear through enemies quite easily. You drop the shields, your teammate hits the headshot (or even a quick burst with the AR/SMG/Storm Rifle/Suppressor in a pinch). No switching required.
Plus, the Plasma Pistol is as good as it ever was in terms of stopping enemy vehicles. I’m really surprised that I don’t see it more.

I think it depends on both the player and the situation. I think the homing aspect of the boltshot makes it better because you barely have to aim, then it also changes faster (super fast if you have reflex mod in warzone), and in close quarters the travel time isn’t a big deal, thus making a stronger argument for it being the new NOOB combo. If you’re talking about a deadshot player that will get the hs every time then yeah a precision weapon will win the day, but I think overall the bolt is a better follow up.
On more than one occasion, given the right map, I’ve also done pp + suppressor (also homing) and it works great. Especially cause not a lot of players go for either of those weapons very often.

Definitely! Great tactics for leveraging a very noob combo!
