Powerups not auto pickup?

i know in one of 343’s Sprint vids they said they made it so you have to hold button to pick up now but it was so you can activate when you wanted to later. but i guess they left the use later part so why are we required to still hold to pick up. it lost it’s use at that point. the only rare reason i can find is if you somehow want to give it to a teammate but need to walk past it which is hard to believe since who wouldn’t want to pick up a power up and also they are usually out of the way, especially on orion. so why still require picking them up by holding X when it should be auto?

Because it takes skill! No hand holding! You want it grab it. Tired of games babying players around… Lol

well remember when peoople in halo 3 would sit next to it until an enemy was near or pushing them? they woud pick up OS and become invinsible for about 3 seconds. Now you have the opportunity to take the person out as they grab the power up and made them burn it which is far more balanced.

I prefer manual pickup.

What if I want the spot but not waste the power up on my scrubby self.

can i have an option that says if i walk over one i just pick it up like all the past halo games did.

but you are punishing the many for the actions of a few. if thats so why not get rid of FF? people try to argue intentional are minimal, which is a total load of BS. so now even if i run over and pick it up when i see it, i have 3 seconds to wait for it to kick in before it works. sounds like a devolve, not an evolved game mechanic. i would of said it was okay if you could originally use it how 343 said it would be, where you can pick up and use later rather than right off bat. but thats why they said the whole reason why its a manual pickup. so without that function it lost that use so now they just worse than the older ones.

The animation is a terrible idea. You don’t make a competitive game by punishing offensive play and rewarding defensive play.

Other than that I’m fine with Manual pickup, since all you have to do to get it to automatically pickup is hold RB before you walk over it.

Risk/Reward. Don’t charge into a deadly scenario trying to skeeze a power-up. Control the area, or take a calculated risk.

ehh that split second it takes to pick it up gives you a change to make them burn it which i think is very balanced.

Nope.

The risk is that they’re already ideally in compromising positions to begin with. The reward is restricted, and tactics resulting from immediate pickup are now nerfed or eliminated outright.

Nothing is going to convince me that it isn’t just another stupid -Yoinking!- casual idea.

well another reason was shown on Orion, you can accidentally knock off the powerup. this would never happen in any of the other halo games. and this was shown in early release, but after testing, you can still do it.

Not sure what you mean by “knock off the powerup”.

not split sec, 1-3 seconds. you have to pick up, play animation, and have to wait for effects to kill in. Active camo doesnt making you go insta invis and over shield takes time to charge up. i have been killed when no one was on motion tracker, i looked around, no one around. but right as i go in for grabbing it guy in and nade spams and gets me in the middle of my animation. the best representation of this coast is clear for miles, guy just shows up from nowhere n nade spammed me.

this can be applied to other maps too link even though there are 2 other ways to get up. the other 2 ways are actually trickier. the first one he shows you can messup alot on, the 2nd one if you dont hit n hold RB than wait the right amount and hit LB, you end up falling to death. but this can happen on The Rig aswell. and even though you dont have to go to extreme like Orion does, it still shows they are movable and can get knocked off map which means they are not good to have if they cant stay still if someone can just, intentional or not, ground pound them off.

I like that you have to pick it up. Makes it more challenging especially if you are getting shot at or shooting at some one. Same goes for the flag pick up. I hated auto pick up because sometimes I didn’t want the flag as I was using my weapon at the time.

I like the way it is, obviously he did a good play is all. Just because someone counters you does not mean the game is broken. I’ve made people burn power ups before and its a tactic when you know you are not going to get it.
