I think the sniper and skewer on Live Fire are relatively okay, but I think it would be far more in line with previous titles, and even just more fun, to make the power weapon pad spawn a rocket launcher or cinder shot, or even a hammer or energy sword. Thoughts?
Yeah 100% rockets feels much more fitting. I assumed the last flight they changed it just to let us test but doesn’t seem like it now does it.
Edit: Deleted because I have the attention span of a goldfish.

Oh I’m talking about the Live Fire map, not Behemoth (which is the map I think you are referring to).

Think you’ve got your maps crossed haha, it’s the training ground one Live Fire, not the sandy vehicle map that is Behemoth.

Oh crud, my bad. I was reading a post about Behemoth earlier and got my maps mixed up. Yeah, all of your suggestions would be cool on Live Fire.
I think rockets should be avoided on this map. Their splash damage is HUGE and the map is tight.

Good point, which I would rectify by making the explosion radius a bit smaller. I think the grenade spam helps me prove that point lol. But also, I found myself killing myself with close rockets way more often than in older Halo’s since the explosion is so big, which is rather frustrating.

The weird thing is I didn’t really like, encounter a lot of grenade spammers.
But yeah the splash is probably too big.

I wonder if it’s that the explosion is too big or if it’s that the damage on the edge of the explosion is even higher than in previous games. Example: Especially in Halo 3 and Reach the Gravity Hammer did only a little damage at the edge of its radius and would just fling your slightly hurt enemy if you missed more than a bit. In this game, the Hammer does a lot of damage and will strip shields entirely even at the edge of the explosion. I sometimes killed myself as well with the rockets since I’d be a bit too close while my opponent would leap over it.

I am glad you mentioned this, because I have also considered that. The edge of a hammer swing will still almost kill me, which is super weird. And the edge of a grenade still does half or more to my shields, so getting hit by anything explosive is super punishing no matter how far from the center you are. Damage from explosives should probably be examined to scale better based on the distance from the center of explosion.
As a Sniper rifle guy my opinion of the S7 Sniper rifle feels a bit “sluggish” compared to the other halo games. Whenever I shoot with it it feels like there is some milliseconds delay which makes it not fire immidiatly when you press fire butten. It makes it harder tuse and more skills involded but it also severely cuts survivalability if you happen to miss a shot at close to mid range.
But overall I like the sniper rifle a lot! Especially when firing at a moving target due to the bullet travel speed you need som skill and prediction to be able to land that rewarding headshot. Even when you no scope you have to predict the shot where it will travel. The sniper rifle is not as accurate as the other games but it ads so much more traning with it and that is both fun and challenging. Except the “sluggish” feeling when trigger the shot.
