This is something I don’t see addressed enough. Shotgun, Hydra, Scattershot, and Sword are power weapons. They’re treated equally to a rifle. When the ammunition runs out in these weapons, the weapon instantly spawns. Intelligent players abuse the hell out of this. These are not weapons that should spawn that often. Truth has rockets, sniper, hydra, and shotgun. When only the player that shoots the last shot knows when the weapon is going to spawn, this is bad. It takes the strategy out of the power weapon battle. 343’s treatment of these as just basic weapons causes problems. It clutters maps with way too many power weapons. For example, every quadrant of Eden has a power weapon weapon. This is just excessive. It makes the whole game about power weapons and the focus is taken off of weapons that the game should revolve around.
The power weapons can only be considered “power weapons” if in the hands of a player who knows how to use them. I’ve seen people pick up a power weapon and not get a single kill, even given an easy situation to get those kills.
A thirty second or minute spawn would be better.

So, we base game criticism off the performance of bad players?
Control the power weapons, control the map, that’s part of Halo MP. As far as the number and which power weapons are on each map, that’s debatable. They can swap out and change timers on weapons though.

I didn’t mean it like that, but power weapons do depend on the users skill. Luckily, most people know how to use them

I don’t agree. They should be treated the same as something such as rockets. Everyone should know the second that they spawn. The guy who fired the last shot would still be the only one that knows that it is going to spawn in 30 seconds/ 1 minute. This takes the strategy aspect out of the power weapon battles. It turns it into something that would be considered random. Random is bad

It’s pretty much been like that though for the other Halo games. You just had to kinda check the spawn to see if the weapon was there. Personally I don’t care for the weapon pads and the announcer calling out the spawn time, or the countdown popping up on my screen. Not going to complain about it, but I don’t care for it.

The weapon pads are dumb. I agree. Players need to learn the timers. My argument is that power weapons all need timers. Do you not think shotgun, sword, hydra, scatter shot are power weapons? I think weapons that have the ability to kill in one shot are power weapons.
Since when did Truth have all of those weapons? Did I read something wrong?

Meant Eden (fixed)

Not saying they aren’t. But they do have timers, they’re just not announced like weapon pad ones are.
Oh, ok, yeah Eden does have a load of weapons. The thing is not too many people I’ve played used the Hydra, I’ve never seen someone who can use it well. I think the Shotgun should be removed and replaced with a less powerful weapon such as an SMG. I do like the Shotgun on Empire though, I think having it on Eden is too much.
Tier1 Weapons spawn every 30s, I believe counting down from when they’ve been collected.
Tier2 Weapons spawn 10s after they’ve been used up (and apparently Halo 2 also used this system?)
Tier3 Weapons spawn at two or three minute intervals with an announced time.
Power Ups spawn two minutes after they’ve been collected.
I agree that it’s kind of a stupid system. Everything should just be on predictable static timers, I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be.
Disagree that it’s gamebreaking in the sense of “zomgz too many rapid spawning power weapons”. In the context of Halo 5’s Sandbox, none of the Tier2 weapons are all that desirable to have in the first place.
