power weapons dont feel powerful

aside from the rocket launcher and ravager, power weapons or mid-tier weapons in this game don’t feel as impactful as they should be. even when I land all my shots with the heatwave, I get dropped by starters so fast it makes me wonder why I picked it up. I’ve always been decent with the sniper but the moment I scope in I’m decoped with 90% of my shield missing cus someone contested me with an assault rifle from 40 meters away. the BR’s TTK seems to be matched by the AR at mid range and the pulse carbine, disruptor, mangler, and shock rifle are all hard to use with little reward vs the reliability of your starting weapons.

is this just a get good issue? cus I’ve never had this problem in halo before. in infinite I legit just do better when I run around and flank with the assault rifle lol

The heatwave isnt a power weapon, bulldog isnt a pwer weapon.

Power weapons = increase lethality at most ranges (outside of the sniper but even then)

Mid tier = increased lethatlity and or specialty in specific fields. The bulldog will outshoot an AR and BR at close and sometimes to mid range (though more close range) given its a 2 shot gun. The heat wave isnt really a killing weapon as is more of a support/suppressor weapon. It can kill but it requires a combination of mid to long range fireing combos to do. One done right, it melts. The BR should be at a disadvantage at mid range but have the advantage at longer ranges. That being said, even at mid range the BR outshoots the AR if the player hits all their shots. Close range the AR has a much higher edge on the BR.

The shockrifle is a 2 shot precision weapon that also does AOE damage (wouldnt call that unrewarding imo), the mangler is a 3 shot kill but is mainly effective at close to mid range given it seems to have a major damage fall off at longer ranges. I havent used the disruptor but from what ive seen, I agree with you as I dont really know what its use is currently. The pulse carbine is prob the hardest to use given you need to learn its tracking ranges and ideal range. Its essentially a mid range weapon that can 2 shot players once you get the shots down.

Anyway, the point of this was to clarify that mid tier weapons are NOT inherently better then starting weapons. They are specialized in specific areas which give them the edge on starting weapons. They wont all be good in all scenarios.

Power weapons are essentially always good and or near always good. Sniper is lethal at all ranges if your a good shot, rockets is hyper effective at mid to short range, the cindershot is good at a ton of ranges as is the hydra and the sword and hammer are kings of close range.
