What is your favorite power weapon/variant in Halo 5? Are the multiple variations of each type a welcome addition to Halo?
Also, how would you like to see Warzone Firefight encourage the use of power weapons, to balance the use and power of vehicles?.
If you’ve seen / known me for long enough, you know that the Railgun is my favorite overall weapon. Energy Sword would be a close second if I had a choice.

How do you feel about the alternate variants of the railgun? Whiplash is one I think? I have to be honest I don’t keep track of all the different types too well.
My favorite power weapon is The Answer.

I would say mine is too actually, because it is barely somewhat useful in Warzone Firefight unlike almost every other power weapon. It’s fun to use and has a relatively large ammo capacity.
Seeing all these topics people make about “what’s your favorite req weapon” just makes me sad because I almost never use them, due to the fact that vehicles far outclass them in Warzone Firefight which is the only gametype I play in Halo 5. I wish 343 would do something about that. Separate req balancing for PvP and PvE would be nice

What I don’t welcome is the whole idea of unlocking them (and certifications for them, and also loadout weapons) from a progression system, instead of having them as pickups on the map like in BTB. But that’s more of an issue with the req system than the weapon variants themselves. The actual weapons are fun and cool, and I love that forge glitch
I’d have to say that the sniper, specifically the nornfang is my favorite power weapon. The railgun and saw are good too, but I prefer a more defensive style of play which the sniper works well for. While I’m fine with the power weapon variants, some of the vehicle variants seem too good in comparison.

I agree, the only use for them is defending bases in close quarters in warzone. I find long range weapons are almost completely pointless in firefight, and they are only good for getting enemy players in regular warzone. I find that i’ll use the sniper or binary rifle against AI and then another player gets the last shot and all I have is an empty mag. The certifications are a drag and I end up selling the weapons from them for req points anyways. I’m glad to see more weapon variants, but I wish you had to find them in maps like you said. I enjoyed how they threw the legendary weapons into the campaign hidden on each level.

Do you usually use the sniper in regular warzone? I find that it’s near impossible to make any use of it unless you just stay back and wait the whole match for players to sneak around the other bases. I think the only kills I get with snipers in warzone is by climbing on top of a base and staring at doorways of enemy bases. I understand that this is how you use snipers, but that isn’t a very fun time for me imo. I think that with all the AI and over-use of vehicles it is a largely useless weapon in Warzone, especially firefight.

I use it in regular WZ, but it depends on the map. I’m not going to waste a sniper by calling it in on March on Stormbreak. I find the sniper to be very useful though. I’ve gotten 50+ kills in matches with them so I don’t see much of an issue. Also the vehicles are welcome for the most part because they let me get those buckle up medals that I love so much. And even when there are tanks going around, there are always still plenty of infantry players. But, like I said, I prefer a more defensive playstyle so I do tend to sit back with the sniper to an extent. I’m not running into an enemy base with one or anything.

I totally get that. I think that some of the warzone maps cater to snipers more than others.
P.S. With regards to vehicles, there is nothing more frustrating than finding the perfect spot and then seeing a banshee start wiggling towards you…

Yeah, banshees are the worst lol. I’m no good with them, but everyone else seems to be a pro with them. And my snipers don’t do much in return.
Not really a power weapon in the traditional sense, but I love the Blood of Suban carbine variant. It kills fast and it just feels smooth when using it.

The carbine wasn’t really a power weapon before halo 5. I kind of categorize it as a minor power weapon, in comparison to rockets or swords.
