What are power up traps you ask?
Power up traps were basically the use of a Power up to hold a heavy object in place whilst it had a man cannon exerting force upon the object. As soon as the power up is taken, the object then loses it’s resistance against the man cannon, thus pushing the object at a high velocity. Basically, it would crush anyone in the path of the object. In Halo 3 you could use Wire spools or Dumpsters to create these kind of traps. They were especially fun to have on maps with narrow tunnels and pathways.
On Halo 3 I had a map on Foundry that was for zombies, it was a tunnelling map where the “Miners” aka the survivors had to use their sword or BR to get past obstacles such as crates and concrete barriers in narrow tunnels, but they also had to hold off the zombies coming back. Ammo was limited and team work was essential, One round could last up to an Hour, some could last only a couple of minutes, what a blast! I added traps to the map and it made it even better. The original map wasn’t mine, it was called something like “Tunnellinaaaaag” something weird like that anyway.
This is one of many uses that power ups had, something that 343 over shadowed and did not recognise, another saddening part of the loss of creativity.
If any of you have an memories of these traps, do you miss them? Do you have any idea how you could create something similar?
I seriously think 343 should re think about re adding the power ups because they had more uses than just adding traits to the player, who would of thought that you could create interesting things like traps with the use of a power up?
