For those of you that play battlefield, you’ll already know, but for those who don’t, near bases (on big maps) each team has a Pantsir turret, defending them from enemies attempting to spawn kill them - mainly jets. These turrets are placed in such a location that they can only be used defensively.
I think that halo versions would make a great addition to the multiplayer. We could see a standalone grenade launcher turret (as seen on the falcon in the long-night of solace, but on the ground). Or a gauss turret as seen in ODST.
Not to mention the uses for customs and forge.
How can you be expected to get the flag?
I do miss having strong fixed defensive turrets. Ever since the introduction of the rip off turrets they all seem very weak and trivial. I don’t mind if heavy weapons stay but I would also like to see the reintroduction of higher tier turrets that can not be picked up.
Grenade launcher turrets, Gauss turrets… Yes and Yes.
Well, though I would like to see some static turrets in Halo, I think it would not work out well as a base defense in regular gameplay.
I mean those Pantsir turrets in BF3 are put in the last corners of the maps and like you already mentioned, are only really effective against aircrafts. Aside that, the maps in BF3 are extremely large.
Halo’s BTB maps are tiny compared to BF’s maps, so it could easily encourage base camping, since grenade launcher or gauss turrets would be very effective against everything.
So I could see something like static power turrets only be implanted either on a large map that has been designed for a new 16v16 gametype for example or as a fair power position on the map.
So do you mean automated or player-controlled? Either way, anything more than the standard gun emplacements that we’ve had since ODST would be a balancing nightmare. CTF would be impossible.
One hit kill turrets around the base? What would be the point of moving to get a sniper or rocket? Literally just camp the whole team in the base, and you’re good.
