Power Drain: Should It Return?

Should the Power Drain from Halo 3 ever return in Infinite? Or would it be redundant since we have a plasma pistol?

It fulfills a completely different role to the plasma pistol. I am okay for it to return as equipment. It’s a great tool to break up a stalemate.

For sure, I like Power Drain. The inclusion of it in Infinite could probably open up new opportunities of gameplay especially in tandem with the grappling hook (don’t know if that would be possible but it would be kinda sick)

It does raise the question if there is an option to carry multiple pieces of equipment at once and switch between them like grenades.

Presumably you can’t carry an overshield and a grappling hook at the same time. But, in some gametypes maybe you can carry all sorts.

Not a big fan of the bubble shield or power drain from H3. Both acted as a sort of get of jail free card via opposite methods. The bubble shield completely stopped an encounter where as a power drain speeds it up so fast it’s practically over. The reworked shield in Infinite appears to be leagues more fair than it’s H3 counter part. It can be broken with consistent fire and does not encompass the user completely. I don’t know what can be nerfed about the power drain without making it completely useless.

I think that maybe instead of draining power, perhaps it could have a larger area but prevent shield regen. So that any damage you take while in cover is permanent until you reveal yourself and take fire. That COULD balance it.

The bubble-eque shield in Infinite seems much better than 3’s, I agree wholeheartedly. There’s nice balance there, you can shoot through individual parts of the shield and still damage the enemy behind it. If they manuever correctly, they could still find cover behind shields that haven’t been disabled yet, that is, until they’ve all been shot out.

The power drain was good imo because it negatively effected the user and the target, depending on how and where you threw it.
