Potential new content in the future

if you look at the full conversation and you will see that he asked people if they wanted an early community update and someone asked if it was more content. He then responded by saying that it was very unlikely if he wastalking about reqs or maps but that whole conversation was only talking about that specific community update not in general

They’ve already said in past updates that content will be coming along with bug fixes and other extras alongside the fall update. They didnt say wether that content would be reqs or maps, but it’s definetly something on the way

If H6 doesn’t come out until the end of 2019, then it’s likely we’ll get another update after the Fall update.

Here is Ske7ch in a community update from about a month ago in which he explains why 343 decided to do some weapon tuning alongside Halo 5’s 4K update:

> Each of these recent updates has made great strides towards making Halo 5 even better but, even as we’re nearing two years since release, the team is far from done. Recently we announced that the team is working on a 4K update for Halo 5 for Xbox One X later this Fall and from the early glimpses I’ve seen, it is something to get excited about for players with 4K hardware.

> Releasing a game update isn’t trivial – it takes a lot of work, time, and resources to bring to fruition – and all of that has to be constantly weighed against other priorities across the studio such as working on brand new secret stuff for the future.

> The list of things the team would like to do in Halo 5 is seemingly never-ending. The reality is that much of those items are left in limbo until there’s either a critical need to greenlight a patch (an experience-ruining exploit, for example) or a larger initiative comes into play (supporting the launch of a new console is a good one). Once it became clear that Halo 5 would be receiving an update for Xbox One X this Fall, teams across the studio started taking stock of what else might make sense to include in that update.

Notice how he says they weren’t going to think about what to include in a Halo 5 update until “a larger initiative” came into play (i.e. the 4K update). I think this makes it pretty clear that 343 is going to be finished with Halo 5 after this update, because they need to work on their “brand new secret stuff for the future”.

In fact, in the months before this weapon tuning update was announced, they had already been giving most of their support to some silly RTS game instead of Halo 5. So I think it’s safe to say they were planning to be finished with Halo 5 anyway if this 4K update hadn’t been a thing. Like Ske7ch says, 343 needs to weigh the idea of a Halo 5 update against “other priorities” and the reality is that they can’t implement everything they would like to. I think the fact that he told us this is reason enough to think there won’t be any more Halo 5 content updates.
