In waiting for Halo Wars 2 to be released and deciding to buy the ultimate edition for the season pass to future DLC I was wondering, would we get a Fleet Wars style DLC.
Your main base is now a space station or planet. And your units and research are now various types of ships and tech to make them better. So by the end you can have a fleet of Stridents, Autumns Punics and the Uber unit is the Infinity taking on your enemies. And other factions being the Covenant and the Forerunners.
So what do you all think? Possible. Should Creative Arts run with it?
Theres a brilliant mod for Sins of a Solar Empire that basically does this.
But no, the mechanics of a fleet sim are too different from those of a ground based RTS. This would likely be a separate title entirely.
Personally I would rather see something lower scale than Sins maybe closer to the Battlefleet Gothic game with all the fleet tactics and ship abilities. To me that’s much more representative of Halo than Sins with its multi system battles.

I have heard of Sins however my laptop is mostly for work and I can’t put mods like that on it.
I wasn’t expecting said DLC to be on the level like Sins as from what I have seen its truly complex. I meant a simpler level similar to how HW2 is modelled just replacing warthogs with frigates.
I think many fans myself included would love that.

I know StarCraft does this by massively scaling down their ships and basically making them flying vehicles. They could do that. But, again, I’d rather see a full fledged game to properly do that idea justice rather than reskin flying vehicles to look like the Autumn.

I agree with that. A proper game would do the lore and 343i some justice. And add to their pockets as well.
Well they have mentioned about the mod on Canonfodder a few month back and they are using the license pretty heavily. I mean Spartan Games brought out Halo Fleet Battles (which I actually have a Covenant fleet for; just needs that Assault Carrier :D). Maybe if Halo Wars 2 does really well they will do another spin off title into a new genre. It would definitely work.

Think I basically have two of the starter sets coz I shared the UNSC stuff with my friend. So I have:
2 ORS Heavy Cruisers
4 CCS Battle Cruisers
28 SDV heavy corvettes.
Trouble is that the Assault Carrier is quite an expensive resin kit so I am a little put off. But ultimately I want that as my flagship.

Is it the same for the UNSC? Are the Punics a very expensive kit. Also what about the Valiants and Marathons?
I think the Punic’s are a resin kit so are pretty dear. The Marathon is actually relatively small compared to some of the other big ships so you get quite a lot of them in the starter box.

I have both “Sins of the Prophets” & “Homefront” Mods for this idea through my computer. But having them on an Xbox Halo game would be a WHOLE lot better. I know it’d make me want to play Halo more often knowing that they created a Space Strategy game or add-on. If anything tho, certain units can become the base rather than fleet. For example the “CSO - Class Supercarrier” is way too large and overpowered in most aspects to be a usable mobile unit, however it could provide as a base/foundation instead.
If anything 343 should/can work with the creators of these mods and make it a reality.
Either way GREAT IDEA! Honestly, I think 343i will get a lot of money from this too. If they made it into a separate game or DLC.

I have a hammer, I have a feeling mine would win.

I thought about getting into Wargaming with Halo: Fleet Battles, but it’s really expensive.

Try collecting Horus Heresy.
The best thing to do is to get somebody to buy the boxed set with you. I mean, if you really want a Covenant and a UNSC fleet fine but TBH one is probably all you are going to need. So its a better idea just to split the fleets. You basically get all you need for a workable fleet for £40.
