My main idea is:
I have been thinking about what I would like in Halo 4, and I came up with an idea that all my friends thought was great. In halo 3 you had a new set of armour through multiplayer, and in reach your armour was war torn, so put 2 and 2 together and you get my idea. The first time you play multiplayer you get a fresh new set of armour but as you progress your bound to get shot with no shields so your going to get a dent or scratch on yourr armour, thats where repairs come in, an example would be, say you got shot in the head… your visor would crack and if you dont repair it you will have that crack until you repair it same with any other piece of your armour, but the more damage you have on you`r armour the weaker it becomes.
More ideas I have had are
Armour attachments, make it so they upgrade your armour rather than the look of your armour.
Custom stickers for you`r armour, it makes clans, teams and sponsors more distinctive.
Got any ideas you want to add, or just to comment and ideas that have been posted please comment below.
to the armor thing: no, that’s freaking stupid.

How
idk the armor thing would make the game too much like those online rpg games
I guess, but this way you could tell who has been playing the game for longer, I thought of this idea because im tired of people calling me Cr4p at the game when I havent even been playing it for long, pretty pointless but it would work, what I forgot to write in my post was that over time, the longer you play it the more scratches become apparent on your armour.
In Reach, the amount of time you’ve played is clearly shown in your ranking because there is one continuous rank. So if you haven’t been playing long, you haven’t been playing long. Basically, if you’re worried about people calling you crap, they’re going to call you crap regardless of your rank or your armor.
Besides, what if you replace all your armor? Then you look like a new guy all over again except with experience.
If the idea was just aesthetic, then I guess if it was implemented well, it wouldn’t be bothersome but if affects gameplay, it’s a no-go.
Im pretty sure that powered exoskeletons don’t have any stickers. For the crack/dent idea: Thats just dumb, so NO.
You know, OP, I really enjoyed the idea.
Instead of cracking over time what about when you die or something.
If you are shot in the head by a sniper a bullet hole in the visor.
This is why every Halo gets progressively worse…aesthetics and armor customization are cool and everything, but not at the expense of superior game mechanics. All Halo 4 needs is customization on all levels…especially weapon/nade damage and player movement/acceleration. Get rid of the horrible bloom. Whether we have a hitscan DMR or BR doesn’t really matter as long as they function properly. We need more competitively sound arena-style maps…forge world is a good start and it needs to be expanded and improved on with more color options and textures.
And for the love of god, can we get a ranking system that makes sense?

Whoa man. Slow down. The OP is just talking about armor deterioration. lol You sound like you’re fed up with Reach.
I had a similar idea but instead of having it when you take damage without shields, it matters purely about how you died, or if you die the same way multiple times. If you die by an energy sword a lot, your armor has a gash with a little blue hue on it, if you die by headshots a lot, you get cracks in your visor. If you die by lasers or plasma grenades and weapons, you get scorch marks on your armor. If you die by frags or shots to the chest, arm, or wherever else, you get nick’s and scratches all over your armor. If you don’t want all of these marks replacements would be fairly cheap, depending on how much damage your armor has. You could also custom make your own battle damage, you could make scratches of any size on your armor and visor. You could even scratch up your visor like Emile and create your own design. Visor paint should also be usable. Also the ability to put your emblem wherever you want, maybe even in multiple spots like in Halo 2.
I think you should rename this thread halo 4 armor deterioration
