Since the Season Pass information confirms there will be new commanders (and the release of Sgt Forge removing any doubt of this) that means they will be adding new commanders to the game. I was wondering what commanders people were hoping to see - preferably chuck in a couple of details if you can to give a better idea if you make a suggestion. Although I’ve liked most things about HW2 (Multiplayer Server issues aside), the biggest and most notable disappointment for me was that the Flood isn’t a playable race. Of course, balancing would be a concern, but from some people’s complaints (I don’t yet have an opinion) it would seem the game is already not too rigorously balanced. I certainly hope the developers don’t ignore balance. I do believe the flood would be balance-able, and as they are not presently playable I would personally hope to see them added at some point - there was a good start/layout in Halo Wars 1.

Flood Commander 1 - The Flood - Infection Specialist. It is in usage of the lower strength units like infection forms and flood swarms (small fliers from the first game), infecting and taking over enemies, with commander powers including the Flood Spores (the infection cloud), and a passive which increases the power of your units based on how many other units you have nearby. Hero Unit: Flood Juggernaut, a hero that although does not do much damage, specialises in incapacitating enemies (including aircraft) to be more easily infected, and does high damage to buildings.
Flood Commander 2 - The Flood - Map Control Specialist. A commander who is more focused on defence and map control, and using the more powerful units, infecting enemies as a defensive option rather than offensive. Can deploy various defensive ‘structures’ anywhere with permanent duration (but a cooldown). A passive could be that hives periodically spawn uncontrollable units with timed life that roam the map until finding an enemy. One of the final abilities would be to upgrade target Hive (main structure) into a Proto-Gravemind, which gains significant strength for every other hive under your control, releasing extra units from the passive, increasing your population further, and various other benefits. Although without a hero unit, this commander can build the pure flood units (Tank form, Ranged form, Stalker form - Halo 3 enemies).
Forerunner Commander - The Forerunner - Sentinel Specialist. A commander with access to all the brilliant fore-runner technology like Sentinels, Sentinel Majors, Enforcers. Care would have to be taken to avoid overlap with Anders, though that shouldn’t be too hard to avoid.
Covenant Commander(s) (Jul 'Mdama?)
Thel 'Vadam and/or Rtas 'Vadum - Swords of Sanghelios - I’m not sure if these two could be differentiated enough (especially with a shipmaster already in the game), but they could focus the latter on his past as a spec-ops elite, and the former as the core of the Swords of Sanghelios faction. I would really love to be able to use the Phantom, and the Spirit as an actual unit, and possibly the Lich. There are many other units which are unused which could be really cool additions too.
