Potential Crash Fix (For Now)

I had consistent crashes earlier and couldnt even get into training mode. My game would freeze, still hear audio for 10 seconds then crash to desktop no error message. I tried everything everyone else was doing and didnt work.

The fix that got my game playable was disabling hardware acceleration in my registry.

To do this search Registry Editor

In the drop down go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics

For some of you the option may already be there. If not, under Default go “new”, then DWORD (32 Bit)
Rename it to DisableHWAcceleration
Change the value to 1

This probably wont work for everyone but its worth a shot.
Good luck!

I also made it semi-working! But I did something different. This is what I did (but not sure which of these made it work):

  • I turned on “required diagnostic data” in the Diagnostic & feedback settings. - changed the properties on “DumpTool.exe” in the “compatibility” section to run the program as admin. - changed the properties on “game_Release.exe” in the “compatibility” section to run the program as admin, and turned on “Disable fullscreen optimizations” - changed the properties on “HaloInfinite.exe” in the “compatibility” section to run the program as admin, and turned on “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7” - added “game_Release.exe” to Nvidia Control Panel: Manage 3D Settings, and turned off Vertical Sync. - Started the game by starting “game_Release.exe”, when steam asked to install VC_redist, hit “No” - Sometime the game crashes sometimes it doesn’t. - Managed to log in with xbox account. - Got inside the main menu, this is where it crashes after a few seconds. So had to hurry myself to the settings menu with the short time limit I had (press F1 for settings menu). I managed to be faster than the mentioned time limit, got inside settings, turned off borderless fullscreen, turned everything to low. The game crashed. But the settings where saved, so the game started with the changed settings. Now the game does not crash anymore like it used to. I am now able to start the game, go into the academy, and start a training round. However the framerate is not so good. But it’s at least playable.Hope this helps!
    I have a GeForce RTX 2080 super,
CPU: i5 9600k, and plenty of RAM.

And guys! Remember to report everything to 343 by posting a ticket (issues and remedies).

btw, Hardware acceleration was already off!

I checked the Crash Report in my game files and it says that I don’t have enough memory to run the game.
I’ve tried turning off a bunch of background tasks but it doesn’t seem to do anything

You previously stated that you had 8gb of RAM. That should be more than enough as long as you have more than 4gb ish available RAM. But windows 10 has this incredibly stupid feature where it stores standby ram and makes it unavailable to use. Restarting your pc will wipe it clean. With only 8GB of RAM I recommend you install a program called: “Intelligent Standby list cleaner”, it’s a must have program for windows 10 users.

Not sure if anyone bothers to read through these posts, but I have another solution for those who have the startup crash.

  • Locate your AppData folder (which should be located in C:\Users…\AppData\ - Open the “Local” folder - Find “HaloInfinite” folder, and open “Settings” folder - There you should find a .json file named “SpecControlSettings.json”. Open it in notepad. - Change any settings to “low”, and change to window mode with the lowest resolution possible. - save and close notepad and start the game.If it’s still keeps on crashing, then it’s not gonna work on you pc at all I’m afraid.
