As of the time of this post on 11/23/2021 the Xbox 360 Halo Reach servers appear back online. I am currently able to search. How long this will last, who knows.

Issues like this are exactly why the shut down is and has to happen. It will be easier on the Community to have done this progressively then to one day have the games not work and 343 go âbtw the games dont work anymore lol sorryâ
Entirely agree there. You donât shut a service like this down unless youâre reaching the point where you canât maintain acceptable service

Yup. I honestly was so sad when they announced it, but if weâre being honest this has been years in the making. Its just hard to maintain services that were programmed and set up 15 years ago. Most of the people who set up the service donât even work at Bungie, 343i, or Microsoft anymore. And Iâm sure while internal documentation exists to either replicate it or fix it, it is just no longer viable. I wish we had more time, but like all good things, its time for this chapter of Halo to end.
As of this morning, servers are down - AGAIN.
Noticed that when I went to try and play a game for old times sake. Very sad to know that we are reaching the end of the line.
Theyâve stated the sunset dates, and until then they still hold a responsibility to maintain them. As soon as their self-imposed date passes then its perfectly acceptable to drop support as stated.

Itâs not just sad - itâs simply unacceptable. Microsoft may have announced a sunset date for the legacy 360 Halo servers. However, they said nothing about recurring outages of the servers in the meantime, and multiplayer is still a paid service.
They need to restore the servers to a reasonable level of functionality, and postpone the deadline so that the community has time to finish off multiplayer achievements and have one last season with ranked multiplayer.

The Xbox 360 servers for Halo 3, reach, and Halo 4 have all officially stopped working entirely.
Please make a out rage, talk to them on Twitter, repost this stuff, anything. Itâd be happy if they could fix the servers before Jan. 13th, 2022, but as of right now they donât work at all.

This latest outage is a good exhibit for why the Halo 3 server life should be extended after the servers have been repaired back to a reasonable state. The legacy servers have not been consistently available in any period since the announcement of the intent to sunset.
Perhaps the achievements for online should be changed to be unlocked in custom games. That would at least ease my mind in turning off the servers in the fairest way possible.
Any kind of patching at this point is really difficult unfortunately- especially with 360 achievements which pop locally, especially when the games (except H4) were originally Bungie-dev
Yeah, itâs just an idea. I mean, they made mcc what it is, so nothingâs impossible. Iâm just thinking of ideas that cane make these games kind of eternal in a way to help people even 10-20 years from now to get 100% on halo 3/reach etc.
Alternatively, if the servers arenât going to be fixed, it would be really nice if the requirement for XBL Gold were at least released.
Weâre almost to the final seventh of the month before the game is to be sunset (at least as scheduled), and the EXP tracker is still not working. The community really needs to have the EXP counter fixed before the seventh of January arrives. We really need 343i to fix it.
