This is the 2nd Halo game for me in which vital storyline information was missing from the game, but is in the books. So all of you Halo fans who have read the books will probably know the answer to my questions

The less vital question: How did Master Chief’s armor drastically change? This by far is the most ignored thing in Halo 4. This has been the greatest change that we’ve seen in Master Chief’s armor. Technically this is the same armor that Master Chief has been wearing since Halo 2. There was some slight change in between Halo 2 and 3, but this change in armor went too far. I don’t hate the new look, but this is definitely the same armor. You can still see the damage that was done in Halo 3 exists in Halo 4. Many people say that it was the updates done to Chief’s armor, but that was only the software and he was only in a cryotube.
This Conveant a splinter cell group of the original Covenant. Not the official group like in 1-3. This group is led by Jul 'Mdama a high ranking member of the Servants of Abiding Truth led by Avu Med 'Telcam, who openly conflicts against the Arbiter. who has since the end of Halo 3 returned to Sanghelios (Elite’s home world) to try and unite his people together so that what the San 'Shyuum (Prophets) did to their race never happens again. The are attacking humanity for the same reasons as the original Covenant did, but also because they are trying to find a way to activate Halo. They were at Requiem originally because they wished to serve the Didact because he us a Forerunner that hates humanity (one if the few translations the covies got right)
Because of the covenant much of their history, their very way of life was lost to the generations. Thel 'Vadam (Arbiter) is trying to restore Sanghelios.
As for Chiefs armor. It’s said there were Nano bots in the cryo tubes that could do field repairs on spartan armor, though I’ve not heard an official story.
