Post Constructive Criticism Here

It seems like everyone here just wants to say “It’s Halo so it must be amazing! No criticism is allowed!” I have seen a lot of trolls here, but 343 needs to know some bugs that really need to be addressed. I’m not going list things like “I don’t like the sound of the AR” or “I want Halo CE MP!” These are performance issues that need to be addressed. It doesn’t seem like everyone experiences all of these which makes it even more odd.

After only playing through a few levels, I have experienced many bugs that were not in the original.

  • Very bad audio popping (mainly in cutscenes and when textures are being loaded)
  • Unplayable coop because of lag
  • Invisible walls (rocks). This is because textures are not the same dimensions as the original textures. I have only noticed this once but it seems like a problem for some others. I noticed it while sniping at the beginning of Truth and Reconciliation. I had an enemy in my sights only for the bullet to hit an invisible wall right in front of me.
  • Music will cut in and out for no reason
  • Dialogue is very quiet (this may have been so for the original as well. It has been a while)
  • Sync and frame rate issues in cutscenes

I have been a Halo fan since early 2002 and will love Halo CEA as well if a patch can fix the major issues. Hopefully 343 can show off their talents by fixing these problems. I think some of the issues may be related more to Saber Interactive’s work on the graphics engine than 343 themselves. Overall, I love the new graphics when they are working, but to be honest, I would rather put in my copy of the original Halo and play that than CEA at the moment. That is not how it should be.

I know this cannot be changed but the graphics are unimpressive for a 2011 release. Though they are better than 10 years ago by a long stretch. What you mentioned points to a rushed game without thorough testing. If 343 had more time we wouldn’t be seeing these bugs.

Co-op online can be very laggy and the pillar of autumn has too much yellow in it (seriously).
I can’t say anything about the MM since I couldn’t play it, but the campaign is great

Knowing that it is just new textures replacing the old, I am actually very impressed with the graphics for the most part. I don’t think they could make it look much better without totally remaking the game and that wasn’t the goal for this game. I do feel that it may have been a bit rushed however.

The campaign level design is 10 years old and it shows. 343 should have taken the basic plot and locations and rebuilt CE from the ground up.

Look at the log bridge on 343 guilty spark. The geometry looks completely different.

Graphics are satisfying to me due to it being juxtaposed to the originAl halo, which is why one is able to compare and contrast both with the back button, but yes it has many bugs but it is expected since they just put a new fresh layer of paint over a brick wall. I am overall impressed on how smoothly it runs though, yes there ar bugs throughout but they did do a good job on just remastering the graphics. Bravo bravo… now the score is another story.

Ever since I can remember, what attracted me to Halo was not its gameplay, not its graphics, and not it’s match making experience, what i was most attracted by it was its storyline which in turn was extolled by its score. The music behind halo is truly breathtaking. Reminds me of the film Braveheart where the story it self is awesome but the score makes it epic.

*PP are lost when Grunt funeral are on.

*Sniper rifle does not shoot as far as it used to, most apparent on truth and recon mission.

*Game freezes xbox, lose any checkpoints which you have not saved and quit on.

*New animations make it harder to use noob combo and elites. Have to switch back to classic just to get this one to work right.

*Magnum does not feel right, they may have added spread?

I honestly agree with this, they should have built it from the ground up to avoid flaming on alllllllllo the bugs.

Does anyone know when they started work on this project?

I can just imagine the uproar now, if they did that.

These issues are NOT major issues.

  • I have NEVER ONCE experienced “audio popping” throughout the Campaign.
  • Co-op has never been laggy for me.
  • This only happens because it’s running the original Halo CE game.
  • Music doesn’t cut in and out.
  • The dialogue was always quiet, and like I said, it’s running the original game.
  • There are no issues in cutscenes that weren’t there originally.

It’s like people forget that this game isn’t made from scratch.

The only thing I’ve experienced is being killed in a Banshee on Assault on the Control room when flying straight up. Apparently, I moved too close to the wall, and because the dimensions on the new walls are different than the original, it glitched and killed me.

Exactly. It would be worse than it is right now if they did that. In reality, there’s nothing to complain about. If you find yourself complaining about this game, you’re a joke.

As can I, but it would show 343 are going to innovate - you know, do that thing Halo was built on - instead of pandering to the nostalgia crowd.

Way to handle opinions. I like the way you provide such a balanced and intelligent counter-argument.

They’ll do that with Halo 4.

Sure, and they’ll put weapons in Halo 4. Doesn’t mean they should leave weapons out of Anniversary.

Yes, because I need it.

They are major issues and while you may not experience, or not notice these issues, there are others who do. I for one am glad that they didn’t remake the game from scratch but these are new issues and were not in the original game. There were frame rate problems in the original cutscenes yes but it is very bad this time around. Also, not being able to kill an enemy because there’s an invisible wall in front of me is a pretty big issue and it was not there in the original. I played the game many many times.

I know it may be hard for you to criticize something related to Halo but things need to be addressed. If you want to be angry at anyone, go yell at the people on here complaining about the MP or reticule bloom…that’s not what this thread is about. There’s no reason to be offended by people that are experiencing bugs that were not in the original game. If you’re not coming across anything, then I’m glad. It’s not like were lying about it.

Here are the glitches I have noticed:

Lines being repeated over and over again until you reach a cutscene. Sounds like really bad dubstep.

Objects having invisible boundaries vastly different from the visible objects.
