Post campaign speculation

Reading the parting words from our very own Joseph Staten (so happy to be able to say that again!) in last month’s Inside Infinite.

> Or rather, they are the character you become every time you step into a Halo Multiplayer match. And the next step of their journey begins with the launch of Halo Infinite’s first Multiplayer Season, which we’re calling “Heroes of Reach.”
>
> At the center of our plans is a goal to deeply root your Multiplayer character in the larger Halo universe and give them a vital, active role in the Halo story moving forward. How exactly we’re going to do this in the Seasons and years ahead… Well, we’re not ready to share details yet. But I can share that we picked “Heroes of Reach” as a Seasonal theme for very specific reasons
>
> Indeed, Halo Infinite’s first Multiplayer Season takes place at a transformational moment in Halo history—at the pivot point from one generation of heroes to the next. In this moment, your Multiplayer hero is waiting just offstage, geared up for battle and ready to spring into action.

I’m thinking Master Chief will die or leave the story similar to Halo 3, and future content will continue with our personal Spartan just like Halo: Reach. (Same Spartan in campaign and multiplayer).

My idea for Halo 4 wasn’t that we should be Master Chief, we should be searching for him to save him, using the same Spartan in both the Campaign and Multiplayer. I’m curious to see if a similar idea is used for Halo Infinite.

Maybe they’ll do something like that or if he is just gone, it’s up to us to carry the torch.

I like your points and ideas.
I would love that, It’s great to make your own character and have a story to them.

I doubt the Master Chief will die and most certainly, he definitely isn’t going to die anytime in the main campaign because there’s most likely going to be missions in DLCs that the Master Chief will be doing.

True, specially when I think Joseph Staten said that MasterChief Is the Heart of Halo.

I’m inclined to agree, which is why I included the possibility it would be an ending like Halo 3. Don’t get my wrong I love the Chief and would be happy to play as him forever. I was just speculating based on Joe’s statement.

> I said the Master Chief is “the heart of Halo.” This is true, and we can’t wait for all of you to play the latest epic and intimate chapter of the Chief’s story. But it isn’t the whole truth… There’s another hero standing beside Master Chief at the very heart of the Halo universe. Some of you may have met this hero way back in 2001 with the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved. Some of you will meet this hero for the first time this holiday.
> Because this hero is you.

Whether or not this statement is pure sentiment or hinting at the player’s continued involvement in the story remains to be seen. Very much looking forward to learning more!

I think there will be many side missions that flesh out past games like Reach. It’s probably going to be very similar to ODST’s campaign considering it’s open world and Joseph Staten is at the forefront. Regarding Master Chief he/you will probably be like a rookie character exploring and solving mysteries of past legacy games.

Here is how I see it happened in the upcoming Halo Infinite. We’re going to see a lot of side missions in the new Halo video game. At the same time, I also think that we are going to characters like Arbiter, Blue Team, Alpha-Nine and Fireteam Osiris coming back in Halo Infinite. Maybe that’s where we will see them getting their own DLC campaign levels in Halo Infinite.

I actually like this idea. I think Chief should serve the same role Felix does in Gears. He retires yet comes back for important fights.

Using your own Spartan as the story is fine if they don’t only do that. Chief needs to return for past and future stories in some way. I think “Halo 7” should pass the guard to a degree and you can use your own Spartan. We have to remember the voice actor is getting quite old and that has to be considered. I want my Spartan to have a voice in the dialogue and it has to feel unique and not just okay.

I think if they plan to kill off Chief, it will likely be at the end of Infinite’s lifecycle, in it’s final campaign expansion.

That would give them time to get fans used to seeing their MP Spartan as a primary figure in the story, similar to your Guardian in Destiny.

With Infinite rendering it’s cutscenes in-game, it’s likely that if they did a sort of Spartan Ops mode, we wold be able to see our own Spartans in the cutscenes. 343 could even cast several voice actors for the roll for extra customisation.

As long as it doesn’t affect story quality, I’m all for it.

I found no player other than 117 spartan in halo 5 so no I don’t want us to play another spartan in infinite halo.

I totally agree

I think the cutscenes being rendered in real time in game is telling in itself.
The spartan ops concept is likely to be revisited.
Crimson or a new team will have a role in the surrounding conflicts to the main story.
343i had lots of comments after halo 5 where they expressed surprise and later acknowledgement that John 117 is a major part of the series allure so I don’t think he will get retired in the first year of Infinte. He will be reserved for the big main campaign level story beats and expansions. Thel, red team, blue team, oriris, alpha nine, spartan3s, etc will be featured in smaller stories id imagine along with our Spartans.
But I think heros of reach is hinting towards

The liberation of reach from the banished and a coop campaign where we help the freedom fighters on reach so the UNSC can take control of the portal to the ark.
With divine winds slated for almost a year post launch I would go as far as to speculate that the Infinite story will take us to the ark and tie the book directly to infinitebin some way.
