THANK YOU ALL

Main issue/bug: Whenever I am in a fire team with a friend, my game (and only my game) Lags very badly and I ultimately time-out and get booted. And not just a little rubber banding. We’re talking unplayable, people running into walls, not loading in, teleporting, SUPER lag. This happens both in multiplayer and in co-op. Rather infuriatingly, I’ve also been banned for leaving after the game boots me from match after match.

Details: So far this has occurred in 100% of multiplayer games in which I was in a fire team. This never happens when I play alone, and the game runs just fine (and it’s a great deal of too, shame I can’t enjoy it with friends). It seems to be made worse when I am in a party chat, often resulting in me never being able to join the game in the first place. It should be noted that I am having no issues in any other game. Also, If I am playing alone and join an Xbox Live party in the middle of a match, It will immediately start to lag and I will time out of the match. It seems to makes no difference who the party leader is or who the leader of the fire team is.In order to both help this issue get resolved and help people who are having the same issue, in this post I will list everything I have tried in attempting to fix this issue. I will also list any information that I think could be relative to the problem.

Things I have tried:

  • Resetting the game - Resetting my xbox - Resetting my router - Uninstalling/reinstalling Halo - Clearing alternate MAC address - Clearing persistent data - Removing my account from my Xbox and re-adding it - Forwarding the following ports in my router: 53,80,88,500,3074,3544, and 4500 (all ports confirmed open) - Contacting Microsoft support (They just told me to do all the things above again and when it didn’t work they basically said “tough luck, go to 343 and complain”) - Extensive Googling - WhiningPossible related information:

  • NAT type: Open - Region: Southeastern US - ISP: Comcast Xfinity - connection speed: ~40mbps down ~10mbps up (I pay for quite a bit more than that but that’s Comcast for you) - latency: 70 - 100 ms - Packet loss: 0% - Connection type: usually wireless, but have been trying wired as well. there seems to be no difference in the super lag. - There are no other devices connected to my network at while trying to play. - Playtime: several hours each day since launch. The problem appears to be getting worse each day. Possibly effected by player population and/or server congestion? - Favorite food: Sushi - Star sign: GeminiI hope this helps someone find a solution and that it can be resolved quickly. I’m really enjoying Halo 5 but it just isn’t any good if you cant play with friends and I am extremely disappointed. Hopefully it can be fixed before the return policy expires or I’m going to have to get a refund. I can’t afford to have $60 tied up in something that doesn’t work. If anyone has found a solution or can suggest anything else for me to try, please let me know. Thanks for reading!
