Possibly Worse than the DMR

With the proposed weapon tweeks looming on the horizon, I had a thought about what could come of the new weapon stats. More precisely, I thought about how such things could be abused. With the BR becoming a four shot kill and the LR getting extended range, I logically concluded that the following loadout would be regularly employed:

Primary: Battle Rifle
Secondary: Light Rifle
Grenade: Fragmentation
Armor Ability: Active Camo
Support: Firepower
Tactical: Dexterity

Could this set up possibly be the new noob combo? With the LR’s extended range, cross map ‘mini-sniping’ would become more pronounced, and the four shotting BR at mid-to close range could keep the auto’s at bay.

Thoughts on this?

The lightrifle actually requires aiming, so I don’t see it being an issue. The DMR’s largest factor that makes it OP is how simple it is to use. I shouldn’t be able to aim a gun when I’m extremely drunk as well as when I’m sober. The DMR is that way.

LR you have bullet travel time that requires actual precision.

What about when I jogged a few meters and picked up a BR in halo 3?

Honestly it doesn’t make a difference, least of all to me. I play infinity very rarely nowadays, and that’s only when it pops up in Castle.

You are forgetting that the BR has a recoil effect, while having its RoF decreased to prevent extremely fast kill times.

The LR does not have hit scan, compared to the DMR, requiring players to lead their shots at longer distances.

Keep in mind that these changes proposed in last week’s bulletin are not final. However, feel free to discuss about them in the thread “weapons feedback” in the “War Games Feedback” forum.

Didn’t think about that.
However, you’re sacrificing a perk slot, and you have to make a choice on which one to drop when using power weapons.

I wish they would just nerf the DMR.

There is no reason to change all the weapons, except the Carbine.

Yes there is, because the other weapons, including the automatics, -Yoinking!- suck.

Anyways, they lowered the RR of the DMR and matched the RRR of the LR to the new RRR.

I think the balance is excellent.
