So with Cortana sending her message of “everyone obey me or suffer” (paraphrasing), Jul M’dama dead and the Arbiter wiping out the last of the covenant on Sanghelios, there may be no covenant enemies in Halo 6. Everyone may join together against Cortana and her prometheans, to resist this imperial state Cortana is trying to start. I could be wrong and there is the possibility of covenant fleeing or being elsewhere, or the Covenant see’s Cortana as some sort of God and serve her.
Which brings me to my other point, if there is no covenant to fight or if there is a bigger focus on the UNSC’s alliance with the Elites, we may see playable Elites in Halo 6, which some of you want to see return. (I’m only for playable Elites in a PvE mode or an Invasion mode like Reach).
I feel like they’re still gonna make us fight the Covenant in some way. They’ve been the enemy since the beginning of Halo, and 343 probably wants to keep it that way. If anything, the Covenant might not show up as much in Halo 6, but who knows, it’s up to 343 now.
The covenant may be dead, but there will always be Elites, Grunts, etc in the universe. The covenant was only a small portion of what was out there. They all function separately like humans. You WILL run into them again.
It would kind of be cool if the Didact came back and digitized (?) existing Covenant or Sanghelios and transformed them into Promethean/Covenant hybrid enemies… but I have no idea if that would even be plausible.
Is the Didact dead? Guessing he’s not, and if he wasn’t, would he even have that capability anymore?
Judging by the legendary ending, it looks like Cortana is going to try to use a Halo ring to eliminate humans and any other organic life that opposes her agenda. I suspect we’ll see the Flood again, or maybe a new enemy.
Jul’s faction may be weakened by its far from gone. Yet. And there’s plenty of other factions that are against humanity and SoS out there. Hell, we even see a new faction in Halo Wars 2 with that brute.
The Covenant will always be an enemy in Halo. Could we see a spin-off game with no Covenant (Forerunner-Flood/Human War)? Hell yes but, in the main Halo games the Covies will always be there trying to stop Chief from doing something heroic, and failing.
I hope the Covenant are still around in Halo 6. I however would not mind seeing mission like being on a Jackel pirate ship with differnt types jackels.
We’re going to battle the hell out of Cortana’s Prometheans so that her numbers are dwindled and the Flood will swoop in and we won’t have enough mechanical bodies left to fight. The only way to win will be to light the rings.
Except they could serve Cortana like they served the Didact. And if we’re going after Cortana, she’ll most likely send Elites and Grunts and Jackals and whatever else that worships her after you.
Everybody forgets that Cortana called out to a bunch of races to join her. She is possibly going to command a legion of Sangheilli, Jiralhanae, Unggoy, Kig-Yar, etc. for us to fight in Halo 6.
