Possible solution to impulsive rage quitting.

When people get really mad at a game it can be easy to impulsively rage quit. I can do it with out really looking at the pause menu. It is easy as “pause button, joystick down, A button, joystick up, A button.” 5 button combo equals quit. It really is just a knee jerk reaction to getting your butt kicked at the game. So my idea is when people want to quit and hit the quit button a comment box comes up for you to type in the reason for you leaving the game. It will slow people down and make them think about it.

It would only slow people down for a second since I’m pretty that an impulsive rage quitter is not in their right mind to give a legit answer, so they’ll just type gibberish and be done.

Then they select the reason and quit anyway. I don’t think the outcome to the game (or your current in-game team size would change), but it may provide feedback. Quitting games may very well be symptomatic of a greater issue that needs to be addressed.

I’ve quit several games (sometimes intentionally, sometimes not). I’m still not entirely sure why I haven’t received more bans yet (I had one roughly when the game first launched).

If they gave me the option to choose a reason I would gladly provide feedback so long as the following reasons were available to select:

  • I wasn’t prepared to keep playing against the same spawn killing/stat padding To4 multiple games in a row while searching solo.
  • Four Plats vs two Onyx & 2 Bronze Smurfs is not my idea of balanced.
  • I wasn’t prepared to tough it out playing on anything over 300ms ping for multiple games in a row.
  • 2 of my 4 random team mates have already quit
  • I didn’t quit, you booted me

100% agree…

LOL All popular reasons for quitting. And all aspects of the game that could be fixed, or at least severely limited by 343/MS. There have been multiple threads exploring every issue you listed. Quitting will never be completely done away with, but designing a game that players don’t want to quit goes a long way toad reducing it to manageable levels. The update dropping today addresses some of it in ways that the community has been asking for which is great. Also some of the language about monitoring of Arena is promising. Let’s hope it helps. This update looks like something the game has needed for a long while.

People Knee-jerk quit??? What?! It doesn’t even make sense. One might ask why are you getting so worked up that you have a quitting ‘impulse’ that you can barely control

Yes, the issues you have listed can be very annoying.
