Possible Smart-Scope Solution - OPACITY

So I found this video where this guy talks about having a more realistic and aestetically pleasing alternative to red dot sights that you see in games like Battlefield. Take a look: Red Dot Sight Alternative

The gist of the video is that in real life when you look through a holographic sight, you can aim with both eyes open, and your eyes focus past the housing around the red dot sight and you can almost completely tune it out of your vision as if it is almost not there. The problem with many games with aim-down-sight mechanics is that the scope and sight housings obscure a large portion of the screen. His solution was to have the scope change opacity so that you can partially see through it. Applying this to Halo 5 makes the most sense if they want to keep the ADS mechanics with the scopes on screen. The Visor can simply change the opacity of the scope, or overlay the scope’s sight onto the visor for an unobstructed view while keeping the weapon raising animations. It’s the best middle-ground between the old instant-zoom and modern ADS mechanics.

Cool concept. It could definitely work.

I don’t know. The middle ground between two extremes isn’t always the best solution. Having partially-opaque ADS weapon models would disappoint the ADS fans because it would “break immersion” or something, and it would disappoint the classic zoom fans because… It’s not classic zoom?

If the issue is visibility, classic zoom is optimal. (Maybe remove the black border around the scope?)

If the “issue” is immersion/realism/whatever, full ADS is optimal.

The video was interesting, but I don’t know if players would like not seeing the gun. (Seeing the gun is cool or something, right?)

Holy -Yoink-, people still play MoH: Warfighter?

i actually like this a lot thought I think in halo the more Holographic look of the smart scope ala the AR scope should be the standard over all, Changing the optics esthetically for each and zoom rates

Yes, the AR and Magnum’s holographic overlay is the best way to go rather than having bulky scopes blocking a good portion of the screen.
