When watching the Halo Infinite Gameplay Demo my friend and I noticed that the pistol (MK50 Sidekick) among many other weapons in the Demo seemed a little too “Modern” as opposed to what guns have been in the Halo sandbox in the past years. My friend and I were having a discussion about this and were comparing the pistol in the Demo to other pistols used in Halo CE, 2, 3, ODST, etc. and we all noticed similar designs that seemed to not look “Modern” but looked like it belonged in Halo.
To begin with, we added the extended trigger guard to the handgun which the previous Halo installments had on their handguns and we also noticed the tang of the handgun (the back of the handgun below the slide where it rests on top of the hand) was smaller than what was presented in the previous Halo installments so we extended that by a bit.
So we took a picture of the pistol and made our own spin on it (Through Photoshop) and want to present it to the community and 343i as a possible pistol redesign for Halo Infinite. Let us know what you think!

I would rather have Halo 5 warzone handguns
Wow you actually made it way worse. Congrats smile.
I would like a pistol with the fat part at the end of the barrel. That’s where the smart link scope/camera is.

This is a rough idea of the redesign we didn’t go out of our way to remodel the entire handgun, so of course it’s not going to look as refined. We’re pointing out a design idea for the model of the handgun to have an extended trigger guard and extend the tang of the handgun by a bit. It’s taking inspiration from the Halo 2 M6C design.

“Modern” isn’t what I would use considering Halo takes places centuries from now, it looks like a firearm made today
One part I really like about Halo is that the UNSC weapons are realistic and plausible. Even though it is a sci-fi universe, human weapons have a militarized style that could really happen in the future. This is something that has always been called for in Halo, realistic and plausible weapons.
I love the design of the MK50 Sidekick. It is a realistic weapon that could perfectly carry the UNSC army. And the details of the same weapon make it beautiful and plausible. I don’t want them to change it. Also, we must remember that the magnum that we all know the Halo CE is a weapon designed specifically for high-ranking officers, and for Spartans. It is not a common weapon of the army.
(Although later in the game it’s everywhere, but that’s for gameplay.)
The point is that the rest of the UNSC army needs this type of common weapon. Like the view in Halo 2. But this does not mean that both weapons cannot exist in the same game, as we see in Halo 5.
The classic magnum could be a special weapon that we found exploring the map, or fulfilling a special mission. I see here golden opportunities to introduce a variety of weapons.

As much as I agree with the U.N.S.C realistc approach of weapons, the guns they use have always had a design philosophy associated with them that seems like they have evolved over the last 500 years. It’s “nearly” recognizable, but it’s still futuristic enough to seem different.
With all the halo weapons up to now, putting them in a modern setting just wouldn’t be right, Humans as of now don’t design weapons like that yet. It’s also the same vise versa. Take weapons from now and put them in a time period 500 years from now and they’ll seem out of place and archaic. That’s what’s happening in Halo Infinite, the weapons seem too out of place, old style and not really keeping in line with the ideas of Halo prior to this.
Is it possible though that that is intentional? Maybe unsc has had to dig up old weapons in order to fight a losening war.

Mmm a setback in technology brought about by Cortana would be a very interesting story arc to explore.
Likewise, I still think that although they have a “modern” style, the technology may have been moving in another direction to make modern, but futuristic weapons (for example, the used material, injection mechanisms, type of ammunition used, etc …)
It doesn’t really have to be bad, the good thing about Halo is that it is such a large universe that all design styles are possible.
Kind of like the size of the opportunities Warhammer 40k offers. But ignoring the clear differences between Halo and 40k. XD

You guys are dumb. Imagine posting on halo forums about gay garbage.
While I like the design of the ‘Sidekick’ it looks like it belongs in today’s world, not one 500 years in the future.
When I first saw it, I was okay with it being in the game as long as the Magnum also returns. I had the same opinion on the Bulldog shotgun but we’ve since learned that it will be replacing the OG Shotgun.
Hopefully the Sidekick isn’t the only UNSC handgun in Halo Infinite.
Side note: I am 100% onboard with the Pulse Carbine replacing the Storm Rifle.

Crossing my fingers the Plasma Rifle is in H:I.
I think the Commando is honestly the worst offender of the new weapons. It could use some Halo-ification because currently it looks straight out of like Blackops 4. Maybe throw on a blocky scope and change up the front end of it, like recoiling like the Heavy cannon in DOOM
Who ever said the magnum was taken out of the game? The gameplay showcase revealed all new weapons, excluding the AR. I am certain that the magnum will remain. And if not, then I don’t care. I like the new pistol. It looks much better than the halo 5 pistol and seems to act more like a sidearm, giving it a cool military-issue feel.

I like the Commando but I agree it could use some work. The ammo counter should be on the top of the rifle, and like others have said in some other threads it should be a bull-pup.
