IF betrayal boot is back in, i see a problem w/ the quit penalty.
Think about it. If you lose XP or SP when you quit, then what happens if you get booted? Does that mean that when I accidentally betray someone and get booted, I should lose XP or SP?
But what if we make it so that betrayal boots don’t make you lose XP? Well no thay wouldn’t work either. Then people would intentionally betray instead of quitting.
So there’s the problem w/ punishing quitters. I mean, the quit ban was bad enough.

if i yoinked you and you betrayed me then yes, i would boot you for unsporting conduct because you deserve it, and no, i don’t get really get accidental betrayal booted because i’m not that much of a wreckless player that would cause me to get betryals.
if you have a problem with accidental betrayals then you should look into what your doing instead of blaming the other player.
I don’t think accidental betrayal boots would happen often enough to make a significant dent in your EXP. If it does, then you should consider not shooting your team mates.
A good player with good situational awareness would never make three betrayals on the same player. It just doesn’t happen. Work on watching out for you teammates and you won’t have the problem.
I wonder how join in progress matches are going to effect boots, like what if you boot someone then they rejoin the match? Or is there going to be a way to block them from that match?

To be honest, you don’t have to be reckless to accidentally betray somebody. 7 times out of 10, in those situations, it’s the the “Betrayee’s” own fault, randomly jumping in front of a speeding vehicle, walking into the line of sight of a sniper when he’s still in the process of taking down someone, running into a battle of enemies when your teammate has the wraith INSTEAD of providing support fire from a distance, etc.

and every time they just end up giving the other team a point because they’ve already taken damage from them, if halo didn’t do this then betrayals would be rampant every where because of incompetent teammates.

That only really happens half of the time. Unless it’s the wraith situation, then you’re guaranteed to get the betrayal every single time.
I think harsher penalties should be applied. If a teammate jumps in front of my warthog and gets ran over I’ll take the penalty like a man. There should be a SP and rank penalty for betraying and a even bigger penalty for quitting or getting the boot(more sp and rank penalty also maybe a timer that won’t allow you to play that playlist for 5-10 mins).
I’d rather the kiddies feel its not worth it to betray somebody for a sniper, and hopefully the betrayal system is fixed because you can strip a teammates shields and the enemy can finish him off, but you don’t get a betrayal,
The SP and Rank system is all progressive so it’s not even that big of a deal. Especially if you don’t betray on purpose.
The best solution would be a 2 & 3 strike system that WORKS, but it’s probably too complex to be implemented via a title update, but i could be wrong. Your first betrayal = no boot option no matter how far into the game. Your second betrayal = boot option ONLY IF you betrayed the same person twice. If not, then no boot option. Third betrayal = boot option no matter who.
Although the easiest solution for accidental betrayals would be for people to make use of mics and just immediately say it was an accident.
XP SHOULD be lost for betrayals though. But not as much for quitting. There needs to be a way for the system to differentiate between quits and being booted.

You know what’s equally annoying? Having someone take the sniper and hide away in a cubbyhole for 15 minutes.

It is annoying. As all hell. But it still isn’t worth a betrayal. You find the guy, betray him, lower your team’s score, and risk being booted, which will take you out of the game, which kind of further messes things up for the other players. We all know as Halo players that being outnumbered isn’t always an ideal way to play.
> In a btb heavy map, with tanks and revenants spawning every several minutes? Yeah, it’s worth the risk, and will probably benefit my team immensely.
Well… true lol. But then, the person could try to come back and kill you. Either you die and hope for a boot option, or you have to kill him again, and then you’re almost guaranteed to be booted. Idk man, it’s more of a gamble than a guarantee either way.

Hopefully by the time he finds me, and comes after me, I’ll have set things right though.
As an avid victim of -Yoink!- teammates that run into my Warthog at the last second, I can safely say I don’t want added penalties for betrayal booting. That being said, I wish there was a way the game could recognize accidental betrayals, and intentional ones. I’m all for punishing griefers. Sadly, us who simply make mistakes will be punished. I never boot for accidental betrayals, and I think it’s unfair honestly.
