When 343i released like 100 artwork photos of Halo Infinite concepts, a multitude of those pictures were directed resemblance to scenes in the Halo Infinite campaign. For example, jumping on floating hex pillars, tanking to the Tower of Reckoning.
It makes me consider the fact that even though a some of those pictures were in-game, a majority of those artworks were not… but maybe in the future? I would believe those artworks are possibly for future campaign expansions. Some of those photos are so different, they wouldn’t even fit in the Halo Infinite campaign. For example, snow research base with a brute inside, a desert city with a Mantis, Master Chief fighting Atriox on the ground??
Maybe 343i cut content for stretching out their story to further build a possible richer story to last the next few years. Its my take on Halo campaign expansions.

Am I crazy for not expecting any big story stuff until this holiday season? For some reason my gut says any sooner just seems unlikely.

And the fact that the Cipher Text that was featured on Sandbox, Sandtrap, and Epitaph (all Halo 3 desert maps) has made its first appearance since Halo 3 in some Forerunner segments; with the Cipher Text being most prominently featured in the final mission areas of The Silent Auditorium.
Given that Joseph Staten is back and doing the writing again, it is a safe bet that one of his fun background lore ideas might be taking up center stage, hinting that those three Halo 3 maps are themed with The Xalalyn in mind.

I know they will add more story at some point, they have to, Infinite is practically butt naked and really only tells a chapter of the supposed new story. But how long is this new story going to take to finish now because 343 move at a snails pace. Is it gonna be another 10, 15 or 20 years? Will they retcon the story again later just to drag an even more geriatric Master Chief around the battle field so more, or will 343 actually decide what they want to happen in Halo and start some new character building?
By the time 343 figures out wtf they wanna do with Halo, I’ll probably be dead of old age. When do we get a proper conclusion on the Master Chief? The dude is a geezer… 343 hasn’t done any other character building lol so who’s going to take over once Chief is gone? 343 hasn’t planned for the future at all. At this point, they fully intend on dragging Chief around for another decade or two.
Honestly, 343 ruined Halo’s story for me. I wish they never touched the franchise. Master Chief was better off staying in cryosleep until the galaxy actually needed him.

I would have absolutely accepted Infinite if it retconned all the way back to the end of Halo 3. We really should have gotten some new characters and done some cool new things before coming back to finding him, and at that point, he should have become an NPC.

It sucks, but you’re probably right.
The campaign was advertised as a live service but that just seems fully untrue. Sadly of course they mention “story elements” as a part of Season 2, but I’m very doubtful that it would be anything more than a cutscene like the one introducing agryna.
It sucks, we can assume they have the other two thirds of the campaign that they cut just sitting in their back pockets, I just doubt they are spending the money on finalizing it rn.

Let’s get Chief an armor customization system with a campaign DLC that adds animals and legendary animals, and then we can put big ol legendary animal hide cloaks on chief just for style points.
