Yea, so I guess Im in the minority when I say that Reach was actually my favorite Halo. And yes, Ive played them all since the first. I thought armor abilites added a dimension to the game that just made the whole experience fresh, not to mention there are now way more possiblities for custom games and forge. However, obviously a whole lot of people do not like armor abilities because they got away from the Halo formula. Anyway, I thought about it, and I have come up with an idea I think is pretty good for both sides. Why not just introduce some form of ammunition system for armor abilites? Just an idea.
Also, just so I dont have to make another post, her’s a few of my ideas for possible AA’s (by the way, some of these other people have also come up with. Im just putting them up for discussion. And, I konw they cant all possibly work, there just some of my better ideas.).:
Flash: Temporarily blind close-by or scoping players looking at you.
Reflex Booster: Sprint faster, jump higher, slide when you are sprionting by hitting crouch or something like that (kind of like an evade), possibly wall jump.
Armor Lock: I think Armor Lock is overpowered, but if they modified it, it could work. Two seconds of life, or two instantaneous uses.
Gravity Manipulator: Allow player to walk on a wall sideways, or perch on a ceiling.
Having the power of invincibility, for any period of time, is an absolutely terrible design choice, especially for Halo. As for flash as an armor ability, I feel that would work better as a pick-up, similar to the flares in Halo 3. The only armor abilities I can stand, knowing that they will be with you when you spawn, are hologram and possibly promethean vision.
All others should either be pick-ups or scrapped in the name of Halo.
Well, I figured as much of a response. Like I said, I am a fan of abilities, as long as they are balanced anyway. So aside from armor lcok, what does anyone think about the other ones, and the proposed ammo system.
My picture: You spawn with ability, use up the little circle meter, then you cant use it again until you find a unviersal armor ability pickup, like a health pack, which refuels any armor ability to full.
Also, anyone know if drop shield is returning? I think its a perfectly acceptable alternative to armor lock in Slayer if they decrease the radius slightly.
By the way, thanks for actually voicing an opinion rather than just talking about how much you hate armor abilities.
Why don’t we have a AA to walk through walls?
/Sarcasm
I don’t see the point in ammunition for AA, having the limited but regenerative AA is much simpler.
The point is just to make it to where each player can still have his or her own unique playing style, while still acheiving balance. If your saying leave armor abilities the way they are, then I actually agree. Im just presenting an idea for all of the people who complain non-stop about how Reach was terrible because it “wasn’t Halo”.
Armour Lock wasn’t really overpowered it moreover slowed down gameplay to a halt upon usage. The others weren’t as problematic.
Some vehicle orientated ones would be a nice touch.
I don’t think the ammunition system would be liked very much, not many people liked the health pack system in reach, so i doubt people would want to regenerate their AA. It would not make sense story-wise either.
Maybe this could be in CG, but not in MM.

If you think fighting a rock is too hard, then I see your first point.
AA don’t really bother me as long as they are balanced. OP your idea on have a number of uses is a good idea but it would probably cause more crying, It would have been a great idea for AL in Reach even tho that’s the easiest AA to deal with it’s quite simple call them out and move on. But it does seem as if 343i has added a decent down side to each AA at least the ones that have been released.
I personally hate the idea of EVADE being scrapped for Halo 4. I understand the MM crowd hated it, but for FireFight and Campaign it was a life saver at times. I rather have it than not, especially with charging Gold Sword Elites or a duo of Hunters bearing down on you.
As for a new armor ability I want Jump Jets to transfer to the Scorpion Tank.
Red Guy " Do you hear that? "
Red Guy 2 " What that high pitched noise?"
Red Guy " Yeah."
Red Guy 2 " Dunno. Sounds happy though."
“WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE…”
Scorpion Tank land on Red guys. Blue guy gets out. " WHOOOOHHHH! LETS DO THAT AGAIN !"
What about having vehicle holograms? Or would that get too glitchy?
How about instead of vehicle holograms, how about they inroduce a stealth vehicle?
> How about instead of vehicle holograms, how about they inroduce a stealth vehicle?
Possibly not invisible, but very quiet and doesn’t appear on motion sensor.
That could work too. I just think they should add more to weak vehicles like the mongoose, because almost everyone on a mongoose in a regular game gets killed.
I read in a different forum about a portable shield, kudos to SilverStreak0. Meant to be similar to the jackal’s shield.
Any word on the drop shield?
A lot of people wanted Duel Welding to come back so, maybe that could be an armor ability. Give them a choice.
It would not have a meter so it’s always on. Of course players can’t throw grenades and switching a weapon would or Meleeing would drop the second weapon…you know like in Halo 3.
Duel welding should come back but not as an armor ability. It should be a regular ability, but only for small weapons like magnum, plasma pistols, plasma rifles, etc. But not the needler, like in previous games, because it is overpowered.
