It’s a joke. It isn’t a jab at anyone. I personally thought it was funny.
This analogous to stating that removing the Destiny Easter egg in ODST is a huge jab to destiny because they retroactively removed their content, but in reality it was removed out of respect for the Destiny IP.
It all seems familar, like a distant dream, whose content is vague and fuzzy in retrospect, but I cannot shake the sense of deja vu.

Naw, It was a pure legal issue, they even stated that.

Because a reference to Halo has to contain subtext criticizing its current direction? I tend to be a pretty cynical person, but this just seems absurd. But, I guess you’re free to interpret it how you want.

I’m pretty sure you’re just seeing what you want to see.
Bungie planned Halo 4 before falling back on Reach anyway, so they would have followed up Chief’s story if they felt they could finish it. It’s just a funny reference. Hell, Cayde-6 even mentions Pathways into Darkness in a humorous fashion.
Well not really if halo takes place in 2557 than destiny takes place in 2300 see my point
