Since Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn has been a pretty big success so far, do you think it will finally lead to a Halo movie? What are your thoughts?
I sincerely hope so. They got the Props. They got the Actors, they got the Locations and scenes to shoot in… So why the yoink not?
PS: I made that Yoink on purpose, and it is not a censor. :3
I heard rumors that there was gonna be a movie but seeing the hopes die down on it I don’t think there would be one. This rumor has been going on since 2010 and it has never finished.
So there’s no hope for a Halo movie.
If advertised it well, it could be one of the biggest movies of whatever year it’s released. Imagine if everyone who loaded up their dashboard could see advertisements of a Halo film being released, Microsoft would actually make a profit, but they won’t; They just fill up the dashboard with CoD.
I was nervous about FUD being a web series. But so far they’ve nailed it on all fronts. FUD IS a Halo movie, delivered in 20 minute bursts. Maybe not a AAA Hollywood blockbuster, but just as good as anything HBO or Showtime has done, and far better than most of the stuff you see on SyFi.
And honestly, while a Halo movie would be awesome, IMO a TV series would be much better. The Halo universe is rich enough that a movie might not be enough. A TV series would allow them to cover much more ground, develop more characters, and have a better story. FUD proves that an episodic format works. I’m sure G4 or Spike would jump all over the chance to have something like it.
It would be nice but money was the big issue the first time around and it is usually the driving force.
Microsoft has enough to finance it but we will see. I just read today that Assasins Creed was being made into a movie, really?
It will happen one day in the not to distance future. If you remember, the movie push was when Halo 3 was coming out. I am sure if Halo 4 does well there will be a surge to do a movie. Maybe coninside with Halo 6?
Crosses Fingers.

According to Peter Jackson, who was selected to produce the rumored Halo movie back in 2009, the deal fell apart because of internal politics between Fox and Universal (the two studios selected were to split the production costs). Although Jackson said budget didn’t have anything to do with the deal falling through, other stories at that time claimed Microsoft was demanding $5 million upfront for the rights to the film and 10% of the total profits. That probably put a damper on things as well. Sources here and here.
A Peter Jackson produced and Neil Blomkamp directed Halo movie probably would have been the best game-based movie ever made to date. I wish Microsoft would seriously reconsider getting behind this again. Blomkamp has proven himself as a filmmaker to be reckoned with thanks to District 9, and now the soon to be released Elysium.
Also, the latest Halo 4 trailer, Scanned, has me totally amped for a Halo movie! That trailer looks fantastic! Fincher and Miller did an awesome job with it. A Halo movie at that production quality would be spot-on.
FUD has some excellent production values so far. I’d almost liken it to other great sci-fi shows like BSG, FireFly, and The Walking Dead. I would love to see a full, episodic series made out this. It would be just as exciting as a Halo movie.
With how beautiful FUD is, they better!! D:<
