Possible Halo 5/2A Toy Indication...?

I was checking out the Big Bad Toy Store for some goodies for ahem… my 5 year old son, and came across this:

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MCF14142&mode=retail

It reads:

This set is to include the following figures: 1x Halo 2 Master Chief
1x Master Chief with Cloak

Ten years ago, Halo® 2 made its debut on the original Xbox, and changed multiplayer gaming on consoles forever. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of this influential, fan-favorite game, McFarlane Toys is offering a figure of the Master Chief, just as he appeared in 2004.

Our Halo 2 Master Chief figure captures all the details of this first version of his Mark VI armor - from the five indentations on his hand and ankle armor, to the smooth, undamaged plating on his chest.
Halo 2 introduced innovations such as dual wielding, and classic weapons like the Battle Rifle. To celebrate, we’re loading up our Halo 2 Master Chief figure with an arsenal of second-game-themed weapons. Figure includes dual SMGs, a pair of Brute Plasma Rifles, and the ever-popular Battle Rifle. No matter which weapons you choose, you’ll be ready to fight like you did a decade ago!

Our NEW Master Chief figure for 2014 brings fans the most famous hero of the Halo saga, updated to his latest look, as seen in the epic teaser video that debuted at last year’s E3 video game convention.

This version of the Master Chief includes his removable multi-layered, wind-swept cloak - the perfect accessory for keeping the harsh, glittering desert sands out of his armor. The Master Chief’s helmet also features a cracked visor.
Cortana may be gone, but the Master Chief still clings to her memory, carrying her inactive Data Crystal Chip on a chain as the “dog tag” of his closest friend. Our figure includes that Data Crystal Chip on a chain, along with his Boltshot pistol.

I am thinking that H2A for X1 is pretty much a lock at this point…

I can’t wait for the applause at E3 when we hear Halo 2!

hmm what a coincidence, or maybe its not. good find though! this does make me actually believe halo 2 anniversary is going to happen a little more. I could be wrong but i think i read something different about that data chip. I read that its something other than cortana. I could be wrong though who actually knows anything about it at this point? Maybe things will be more clear on that at e3.

> I can’t wait for the applause at E3 when we hear Halo 2!

i didn’t even think about the reaction until i just read this, and wow yeah i just got really excited for this as well! I will most likely be at work watching the stream and if its going to be anounced i will most likely fall out of my chair lol.

ETA for the toy is October 2014…

Mmmmmmmm

Cant wait for E3 also!

[edit: reading comprehension fail]

I love the McFarlane series, I only wish I had more shelf space for them. My Noble team piece needs more friends…

> Sorry to be dense, but how does the cloak figure relate to a possible H2A launch?

I think because you get two figures… A H2 one and an Halo 5(?) cracked visor and cloaked one.

Also the description talks about H2 being released 10 years ago… Granted, it is conjecture. But this pack indicates that a) the 10th anniversary of H2 is going to be marketed in some form and b) Consistent with the rumors, H2 and H5 is bundled together.

Interesting, the Halo 5 Master Chief is armed with a Boltshot. I wonder why we would see a specific weapon…

If I remember correctly, I believe these were covered at 2014 Toy Fair with pictures. You might find out more about them there.

> Consistent with the rumors, H2 and H5 is bundled together.

That’s actually a pretty genius move, making people buy one to get the other. Prevents any failed games on their part.

Of course that also worries me, it potentially means Halo 2 Anniversary is just Halo 2’s Campaign + Halo 2 maps on Halo 5 multiplayer.

Which wouldn’t matter if Halo 5 took Halo back to its roots…

> Our figure includes that Data Crystal Chip on a chain.

There’s that canon-breaking AI chip from the teaser again…but this description basically confirms that it is indeed Cortana’s.

…But in the cutscene in Halo 4 you can clearly see that the Chief DOES NOT pull her chip out of the terminal before it implodes.

He shouldn’t have it. Plain and simple. THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

Friend, I am 20 years old and I have Halo figures decked out on my bookcase near my Halo books and Pacific Rim figures of Crimson Typhoon and Knifehead duking it out on the top. You don’t have to hide your love of toys.

Could easily be explained as he’s simply transferring Cortana to and from his suit rather than actually removing the chip itself, like he did in Halo 2. Otherwise yes it makes no sense.

That whole sequence before the end of the level in Halo 4 you spend it plugging Cortana in and out of terminals…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbjA6rB98Yk

Go to about 47:45, that is the final terminal - you see the Chief plug her in, there’s a short clip of the Didact activating the Composer, and you can clearly see the Chief does not unplug her before the pedestal explodes. If 343i can’t even follow their own dang in-game canon, I have lost all hope for this franchise…

> If 343i can’t even follow their own dang in-game canon, I have lost all hope for this franchise…

I hear you, but it’s not like Halo canon was clean-cut prior to 343’s takeover. Granted, the canonical confusion under both Bungie’s or 343’s stewardship is mostly related to non-game fiction (books, animated shorts, etc). But I found 343’ s storytelling to be especially turbid.

An H2A/H5 bundle gets my dander up if I have to pay for two games when I only want one. But let’s see.

Maybe the data chip part was just a mistake and it’s a new one he’s carrying around so that if he ever finds cortana again somehow he can get her back. Or for another theory that it’s to recover Mendicant Bias the forerunner AI. But if it is the same, I can’t even…

I collect Beyblades, don’t hide your toys on a gaming forum of all places :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope for a Halo 2 Anniversary Core Bundle. Just like old times.

Number 36 is going to happybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

As much as I want it, it’d be pretty hilarious if H2A was just a toy all along.

I think it’s rather identical to how the previous Halo remake was promoted.

Figures were leaked, thereafter it was full circle.
