While browsing through the waypoint service record I noticed something peculiar. In the Halo 2 section it shows I have 0 out of 0 achievements unlocked. Why doesn’t 343i simply track Halo 2 Vista achievements to include Halo 2 in the career feature? It seems like a simple fix.
Last February 343i announced that the extension of Halo 2 Vista support to June. That confirms they pay attention to the game. My thoughts are that 343i would be more willing to support Halo 2 Vista while it is a topic of interest.

As far as I can see, the Waypoint Career focuses entirely on console Halo games, not PC ones.
I can see why they do it too, not everyone has the money to buy an Xbox 360 and all the accessories, as well as a PC which can run Halo 2 Vista good enough to actually get all the achievements.
Gaming is an expensive hobby especially online gaming. Halo 2 Vista should not be barred from being tracked because it is expensive for the gamer. The total cost of purchasing the Xbox, all console Halo games, and online subscription can range from $400 to $500 excluding the cost of DLC. Not every gamer can afford to do so, but this does not stop the Career system from tracking all console Halo games and it should not prevent it from tracking Halo 2 Vista. I can understand a lack of interest on 343i’s part for not tracking Halo 2 Vista, but monetary issue does not seem to be an issue.

I guess it is just that Halo is primarily a console game, Halo 2 Vista w/ Games for Windows LIVE support was a one off, hence why we’ve literally heard nothing of a Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars & Halo 4 PC version
But that should not bar Halo 2 Vista from being tracked. The achievement list is still connected to Gamer Tags. There is no physical barrier to inhibit Halo 2 Vista from being tracked.
Halo 2 Vista was the first Halo game to feature achievements and currently has the longest running online support of any Halo game after the shut down of original xbox live. It is disrespect to the Halo 2 Vista community, whether large or small, to be ignored by 343i from the start. Halo Waypoint has been the hub for all things Halo for years now, and it is time for Halo 2 Vista to be recognized on the achievement tracker.

Oh I agree completely, but there is still a chance the game will be closed down completely in June, making it impossible for newer players to reach the highest Career Milestone if Halo 2 Vista was added.
You may say sucks for them but considering we have seen ingame unlocks in the past, it isn’t fair they shouldn’t be able to access those because they are newer to the franchise than you and I.

Technically that will happen regardless sometime in the future when 360 live shuts down.

If that were the case then, that would be a problem I can understand. But I still cannot grasp how they can shutdown the Halo 2 Vista servers. Unless they intend to shutdown all of Windows Live, Halo 2 Vista will still remain alive because of private server hosting.
The recent announcement to extend the server life to June surprised me because 343i took notice into the small yet significant population of Halo 2 Vista. It seems to be a positive outlook for Halo 2 Vista’s continued life, but it is only speculation.
