After many hours of being unable to access the beta due to freezing at the title screen or tutorial, I believe I may have found a fix…
It would appear this issue may be profile related, so if you have previously played Domination and now unable to access the beta since the update to Deathmatch then this fix may work for you.
- Sign out all accounts on your console. - Create a new profile if you don’t already have one. - Sign in with the new profile. - Load up the Halo Wars 2 beta - Press the start button and then B to skip the tutorial - You should now be able to load and play the gameI have since tested my main XBL profile which I had previously played Domination on and it still had the freezing issues where as the secondary account loads the beta without any issues. My conclusion is that due to poor programming and coding, this error occurs if you have played on previous versions of the game.
Further testing has found that I am now able to spam B to bypass the tutorial and subsequent freeze on my main account so it would appear that using a secondary has somehow cleared some kind of cache that prevented it from loading the game and I am no longer being prompted to download the latest game config.
I hope this helps some of you that are currently unable to play the beta.
