Possible explanation for blue Prometheans

Since it was revealed that the night level is the 3rd mission, I have a new theory concerning these blue Prometheans. Frankie has said that there is a point in the campaign when the Prometheans seem to become more directed, I would assume this means that they are being controlled by something else.

Since we only see the blue Prometheans in the second level so far, I think that once we wake the Didact’s Cryptum in that level he assumes control of the Prometheans. As we’ve seen the Didact’s Cryptum is always orange, so it makes sense that once he assumes control of the Prometheans they change color, same with the structures on the planet.

I thought they just changed color depending on the time of day. At least, that’s what I’ve heard…

> I thought they just changed color depending on the time of day. At least, that’s what I’ve heard…

That’s what most assumed, since we only see the blue Prometheans at night.

> I thought they just changed color depending on the time of day. At least, that’s what I’ve heard…

This is also possible.

But some may be controlled by the ancient evil and others just still angry they go woken up.

This is very possible, makes a little more sense than day/night.
But who knows?

Good…bad…
I’m the one with the gun!

But if they were controlled by the Ancient Evil by the 3rd mission, the first time we see them, and the E3 demo takes place after this mission, then how come they went back to being orange (assuming that orange is the default color). I think that if they were controlled by the Ancient Evil, he would be controlling the orange ones, while the Didact controlls the blue ones, or they are different colors due to time of day.

They’re blue the first time we see them, they turn orange after the 3rd mission. From what we have seen the Ancient Evil isn’t even unveiled until the last 3 missions.

Nice. Love that one.

Anyway…very interesting theory. I really like it.

@Sp4rt4n1295:

I believe the E3 demo of the campaign was made that way specifically to just show off the campaign. Newer footage of those scenes in the ViDocs show the blue Prometheans.

That really doesn’t explain the reason for multicolored Promethians, but I guess they will either reveal that later, or we wait until November 6 to find out (which, personally, I would rather do, I don’t want all of the motives, enemies, etc. to be spoiled before I play the game).

No, it definitely doesn’t. I’m just pointing out that the scene in the E3 build is different than it is in the final game.

And I’m with you: Don’t want everything given away to us just yet. I like some mystery.

It could be two different factions of Prometheans. It’s slightly hinted by in the video below.

That’s kinda what I’m getting at here as well.

I fully support this theory, and it makes a lot more sense than them changing colours in the night for no apparent reason.

I believe the scene with the Knight jumping down was meant to be the very first encounter with them. They probably moved it to the E3 level for their first unveiling, but in the retail game it happens in the 3rd level instead, where the Prometheans are in their “defensive” state. I’ve seen quite a few scenes get a similar treatment in demos, where they’re moved just for the purpose of showing things off.

Well In a recent video Kovic from Machinima interviewed Frankie and during the video Frankie said that they sort of cheated when introducing the new enemy, they(Prometheans) are encountered in the third mission instead of the fourth. This is where my “theory” comes in…

Blue prometheans might represent a “response mode” where they eliminate unidentified lifeforms i.e MC and the Covenant. After MC awakens the Didact all prometheans are now controlled by Didact, thus they turn orange: the color of Didact’s cryptum.

That’s my guess

P.S I know that there is a Night/day theory in circulation, just wanted to add more discussion

Thats a good summary, but we will all find out November 6th

It makes alotta since, but what if they where controlled by two different antagonist? Maybe a territory themed idea.

> It makes alotta since, but what if they where controlled by two different antagonist? Maybe a territory themed idea.

I’m thinking that they’ll be controlled by the Ancient Evil at some point, it would really be the only way to not have to introduce a new enemy class.

Maybe it’s just ranking or just cosmetic, like how in Halo 2 you have gold sentinels shoot blue beams.

> Maybe it’s just ranking or just cosmetic, like how in Halo 2 you have gold sentinels shoot blue beams.

Seems kind of odd to have only one rank for the entirety of one mission and only another for the entirety of all the others we’ve seen so far.
