Frankie talks about the BR being “not a replacement for the DMR”. He also talks about how there is something for the MLG guys and there “being single shot weapons in the game”. Possibility of a DMR-like weapon with the BR?Please post your opinion on this.

Yeah we know there is a pistol, but I wonder if there would be anything more. H1 pistol was beast.

I think that the pistol will have utilities for it. Attachments like in the first Halo 4 trailer where he screws something onto the front after blasting through the door.

I disagree. Ever since CE (with the exception of Anniversary of course, but it wasn’t a new title, merely a remake) Halo has moved towards the Magnum being a close range weapon. I suspect Halo 4 will continue this trend. The BR will have a greater range and slightly lower RoF than the Magnum, and the DMR an even greater range along with a RoF decreased slightly once again. If the sandbox is done correctly, each would be a viable starting weapon that would be slightly superior in some instances and slightly inferior in others.

From what I could tell that utility pistol looks completely different to the M6 Pistol that you see a Spartan wearing on his hip.
It does seem like 343 may just include both the H1 Pistol and DMR in the game, although there is a strong chance that the H1 Pistol will be just in custom games or in a separate playlist (thus making it accessible for MLG play). That seems like a reasonable compromise for all.
