Possible Differences Between Playable Spartan&ODST

Intro
I’ve been thinking, some people have been wanting simpler (classic) Halo gameplay again and while we may potentially somewhat see that for Infinite I believe playing as a Spartan you’ll still retain a lot of Halo 5 abilities that only Spartans can do. Now, I can appreciate both modes of play but I will say I have more of a taste for the newer style. Plus, for the first time I’m truly feeling like an advanced super-soldier that they were always meant to be. And not that everything from Halo lore needs to be translated into the games but the way Halo 5 Spartans play I’d say is more accurate to lore than say Halo 3.

Speculation
Point is, what if they continue to go this route with the Spartans but allow for more opportunities to play as a comparatively weaker ODST or Marine? Whether this is in the form of a new ODST game, certain campaign missions where you specifically play as a character who is not a Spartan, or is just a bonus optional feature in nearly all realms of play kinda like activatable skulls or the playable Elites in 2 and 3. I think this might allow for more available classic Halo gameplay simultaneously as Spartans continue to evolve theirs. And if your tired of wielding all the incredible power of a Spartan you could challenge yourself by playing a lowly soldier instead!

Differences
Some of the obvious differences between the two would be no Thrusters or the abilities included with it like evading with them, ground-pounding, and Spartan-charge. Other changes would be not being able to assassinate, being unable to hijack enemy controlled vehicles, taking fall damage, needing health packs in order to regenerate HP (like CE and Reach), and being unable to slide.
Additionally, for campaign I’d probably limit their weapon usage somewhat as normal soldiers can’t feasibly use every big and heavy alien weapon they come across. In the same regard I might like to see playable Marines/ODST have actual recoil to the majority of the weapons they use, unable to unmount&carry turrets, and perhaps have a weaker melee. Even though you couldn’t dodge with thrusters maybe you could jump out of the way like the A.I. soldiers do if you double-tap the jump button while moving the thumbstick in the desired location. I believe in the ODST game their jump wasn’t as high as a Spartan’s and I’d retain that as well.
Though, I’d allow them to clamber up surfaces within arms reach like Spartans in 5.
I think it’d also be interesting to add a prone feature which at least the Marines&ODSTs could use and this could help further weapon stability even more than crouching.
On the topic of dropping hot into battle Marines of course only have various vehicles as options while ODSTs additionally have drop pods and Spartans take it a step further by dropping in with nothing but their full suit of armor and built in thrusters (like Apex Legends) just they way Team Osiris did in the opening cutscene of Halo 5.
On a side note, if water combat is ever added I think an ODST&Marine would basically work like a soldier classically would in video games, mostly staying on the surface of the water while likely trying to get on land or a vehicle for a more favorable position. Meanwhile, Spartans would not float whatsoever and would immediately sink to the floor then bear with the slower movement speed as they use their thrusters occasionally to move about slightly faster until they can reach shore.

Campaign
Depending on how the story of the game’s campaign is structured I could see you playing this ODST for the majority of it while seeing what your amazing Spartan allies can do, like taking an alternative underwater route while you take the land-based approach, and really just appreciating all the cool stuff they can do while enjoying your time overcoming against the odds and proving your accolades can match with that of a Spartan despite the comparative disadvantages. Then when the campaign is completed you are allowed to be a Spartan on all of those missions and can reach areas you couldn’t as a ODST or go alternative paths like joining that underwater assault. Or taking control of where you land in the mission as a Spartan while you were stuck to the same spot in your ODST drop pod.

Final Thoughts
In the end I’m just rapid firing ideas I’d like to see become a reality and I hope it inspired others. Especially the likes of 343 or future modders who will be on MCC PC.

I doubt we’ll be able to play as anything other than a Spartan or maybe Elites, in future Halo games.

I do however like some of your suggestions for gameplay differences between a Spartan and a ODST/Marine. The idea of not being able to dismount turrets and weapon recoil are all great ideas. It makes it a more immersive experience.

I would like to play a Halo game where you play as a Marine.

holy… the text dude LOL, I wish that at some point we could play with an elite, I would like to be of the covenant and that they tell us a fascinating story

How about a marine recruit forced into action while they were training, the first mission, avoiding the covenant until you can reach the armory, second, you get a radio telling you to get to the court yard for an evac and at the end you have to fire a rocket at a balcony to take out a bunch of fuel rod grunts but the recoil knocks you out and from then on you are escorted by a spartan through an adventure

I really like the concept of playable missions in infinite as a spartan with the enhanced mobility and missions as a ODST with classic mobility (could even be squad based ) ,
it could be a bit like H2 arbitor story arc and chief story arcs with the stories converging somewhere towards the end . I think if done well it could really hit the sweet spot and somewhat appease the split between the community about enhanced vs classic movement . Also provide very cool variation in the mp space as well
