I am not going to make any theories about Halo 4 enemies or about the Didact or whatever but I have found something very interesting. There was a Covenant AI referred to as Construct by the Monitor of Installation 04 also known as Alpha Halo. It looked like … a violet light source. The terminals in Halo: COmbat Evolved featured the Conversation between 343 Guilty Spark and the Construct. The terminals are also a reference to Halo 4.
Now there were only few known Covenant AIs. Probably, they all looked like the Construct. Now I have found this galaxy map picture. The light spots we see there look similar to the Construct, only different in color. Are there more (at least 6-7) Covenant AIs in the galaxy?
I don’t see Covenant Associated Intelligence (apparently not Artificial Intelligence in their case) being in Halo 4, it would complicate things, and it wouldn’t exactly provide an interesting character.
I believe it was in the book First Strike. Chief takes a part of Cortana onto covenant ship to hack it. She describes an AI type being in the computer systems. She notes that she is far more advanced than it is (although it does manage to trick her and send a distress signal to the rest of the covenant fleet). If I remember right, she said she wanted to study it more but because it was such a problem she ended up just destroying it. So there is a possibility for it.
I think it would be cool to see but maybe not to be part of the main story line. Maybe just as like a “hey the covenant finally invented a more advanced computer program. Though it doesn’t really do much as of now, and we’re not going to go into any detail but just an FYI.”
Maybe it might be part of Cortana’s story somehow?

Yes, I also think so. Just consider that Cortana has so many imprints of external sources, it might have changed her over the time. She got the Babd Catha Relic source of Forerunner information on Reach, she got the Control Room information on Installation 04, she encountered that Covenant AI, she was inside High Charity’s network (which used to be a Forerunner stronghold as well) and she was captured by the Gravemind … I believe all that influenced her.
These AIs might be of some interest for Halo 4 because I think that they could be fragments of 05-032 Mendicant Bias. The beggar after knowledge was inside the Forerunner Dreadnought powering High Charity. It was temporarily shut down by Lekgolo worms, however. There might be copies or fragments of him on High Charity. And those might simply be or be used to create Covenant AIs. I also think that High Charity was originally designed to bring the humans to the Ark. The beggar after knowledge indicated it.
