I am wondering if there will be legacy modes in infinite, bringing back other mechanics/weapons / items from from previous titles? I read that devs were going to add different gameplay additions over time.
The game from a gameplay and mode selection standpoint actually seem pretty modular. It wouldn’t surprise me that there are classic style modes introduced alongside Halo 5 style gameplay at some point in time.
I am just trying to put my head around it… supposed to be a 10 year game right? Is it possible that the vision of infinite multi-player is to branch off into different modes?
I can’t say for certain obviously, but I’d bet money on it that if the Devs can lay the desperate groundwork needed this year for the next 9, there could be some absolutely bonkers gameplay additions to this title in time.
Legacy modes already exist in MCC, so it’s not unthinkable to have a Legacy mode in Infinite.
-H5 Legacy with infinite Thruster with cooldown, probably features Campaign’s Reachfall as a pseudo Ground Pound.
-H:CE Legacy where Melee is 1/4th of the current damage, movement speed is faster and no bloom
-H2 Legacy where Breacher BR is given as a start weapon
-H3 Legacy where BRs have projectile travel time (yuck)
-H4 Legacy with killstreaks (mega yuck)
I can see old gamemodes, maps, vehicles and weapons coming back, but gameplay? Besides stuff like disabling sprint and making players move faster as default, I don’t see things like Halo 5 mechanics coming back, thruster, groundpound, hover etc.
Halo 5 had classic maps, modes, and weapons. Infinite likely will as well.
The only Halo 5 mechanics worth porting have already been done so (thruster, clamber and sprint). Ground pound and Spartan charge, like assassinations, were meaningless frustrating flourishes that need not return.
Hover tho. I miss hover.
I feel spartan charge gets a bad reputation based on how it functioned at launch. It has been patched. If you play now, you will be very hard pressed to find successful kills using it in a match… however: if provided a much needed diversity in movement in intense situations. In my opinion, it should have been changed/ replaced with a different but similar function; to have removed it seems like a very angry and dismissive approach ( like selling a house undervalue because a few tree branches broke a window a few too many times).
Ground pound was just worthless after patch and should have been replaced with something that also gave a sudden vertical movement. ( complimenting hover )
Ultimately: the mistake seem to have been using offensive mechanics to fill this need for further movement mechanics when they should been entirely defensively focused.
These are cybernetic solidiers; I want to feel like a cybernetic solidier.
I am sorry you and so many had a bad taste in your mouth due to poor balancing at launch. But if they made a return ( or a proper replacement for each thing removed was given like mentioned) and if the evade thrusters were a permanent, inate, non-equiptable that uses a cool down ,( that alone may be enough .) I believe it would really help infinite or future titles out if it were at least an optional mode of play; de-alienating others whom feel kicked out of halo. I also think
Stabilize is an underated ability
Ground pound and spartan charge should be movement options. Not melee options.
I did have fun with them tho. A lot of fun
I’m being dramatic about it. I played Halo 5 throughout it’s tenure. Would still boot up if I had reason to. I really enjoyed Halo 5.
I can’t say I never used ground pound and Spartan charge, I just don’t feel they added much value to the game except for their movement buffs. Ground pound was a frustrating melee experience, but a great way to get to the ground quickly. That sorta thing.
I stand by my opinion tho: they’re mostly meaningless flourish. They didn’t evolve the dance to the same degree that thrusters and Stabilizers did. Not to me anyway.
This is a better articulation of what i mean. I loved ground pound and charge for something they were were not intended for, the movement and after 15 years of the same movement mechanics and the problems with bumper jumper made them seem very needed ( and they were, they just , as you said, should have been movement options rather than new melee moves, I mean, it is already silly enough that melee still does more damage than a gun in 2022 in fps games).
