Thanks for making the API so easy for us to use. I’m working a few projects, and I was wondering if it would be possible for more match events to have coordinates sent with them? I believe currently only player death events contain the coordinates of the victim and killer. In a perfect world, we could get a real time stream of all player locations on the map at all times, but obviously the data logging, storing, and transmitting effort would be many, many times more difficult. But if coordinates could be added to events such as player spawns, weapon pickups/drops, flag pickup/drop impulses, etc, it would paint a much richer picture of the time history of a match. I’m not sure how difficult that would be to do on your end, but since it’s only a 3-pair for coordinates sent with some events, I don’t think it would cause a prohibitively large increase in data size.
Very interesting. I understand general reservations about not providing all data to the public.
But I promise that I’m not trying to exploit anything I just want to make the best heat maps the world has ever seen. But it’s alright. Hopefully they’ll relax their stance on this in the future.
Yeah I hope so too. I wanted to make maps of weapon and vehicle spawn locations by correlating pick up events across several games, but I would need the location info to do that.
It would be great to have coordinates. That said, I would even settle for static/initial map coordinate information. Yes, it would be invaluable to get all event data with coordinates, but even if not, enough data to diagram a map would enrich a load of different problem domains.
