Portals in CE multiplayer

After one of the recent updates, probably around a month ago, portals in CE multiplayer act a bit differently. Now there is a slight delay before you can re-teleport, which seems to be based on distance from portal. You now have to travel a certain distance out of the portal to port back through. Not sure if many noticed this, but it is very frustrating. If this was intentional, please explain why. If not, please revert back to how it used to function. New way makes porting very clunky and just doesn’t feel right or smooth at all. Thanks.

From the patch notes here:

  • To better match legacy behavior, teleporters in multiplayer maps now have a delay before allowing a player to trigger another teleport.

Thanks. Old way was more fun…

It was a legacy bug from gearbox and thank god it’s been squashed. Without the delay there is 0 risk to using a teleporter. Throw a few nades and quickly retreat.

This is a bug fix.

The real CE had a delay.

The gearbox port broke the teleporters.

I prefer the Gearbox version. To me, that is the real CE. It’s the only version of CE I knew for like a decade.

I can get that, like toby maguore is the real peter parker to me.

But the real halo ce is the one bungie shipped.
For mpst its the one they remember.

Its disappointing in the same way halo cea and 2Amp are disappointing.

Or like if they releasd a Quake3 arcade based remaster of arena or an xbox port based remaster of cou ter strike.

Its not the true version.

I mean source and 1.6 is a whole debate but it makes sense to be as close to original when trying to re-release games.

I feel like that perspective discounts the community that CE PC had. It was still going fairly strong even a decade ago, almost a decade after its release. There are even still people playing that version of the game to this day. I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s fair that the Xbox version gets all the priority. Especially when some of the maps and weapons for the game weren’t even on the Xbox version, and when the PC version was the one with online multiplayer.

Not at all.

For one a large portion of the CEPC community are migrants from the initial console release or people whose interest was derived by the console releases monumental success.

Quite likely that many of those who play the pc release today, I being someone who has regularly played CE og, the port and the mcc version and played anniversary on launch, may see these glitches as glitches.

Its the version that the ceators produced an so as a peice of art its by definition the “truest” version of Halo Combat Evolved.

That may be true.
But the shoe has historically been on the other foot.
CEA and MCC being ports of gearbox CE after all.

I have a fondness for Halo2Vista but. I think its fair that that version not be the one to see rerelease.
It may not be the one ive spent the most time with .
But Bungie’s version is the real halo 2.
I get not liking it but when celebrating the franchise bungie built it seems only fair we do so with bungies games.

CEPC and CEA still exist as their own entities and CEPC is easier to preserve than ogxbox in the end.
I understand your feelings.
But id maintain fixing the discrepancies of the gesr box version in MCC is the right thing to do.

The broken Gearbox version was objectively inferior. Glad it’s finally been fixed.

That being said I see no problem with allowing tweaking teleport entry/exit traits in custom settings.
