Can someone give me a general idea on what to do ?
I started playing PoR in 1s recently, and I have absolutely 0 experience with him.
I know I should have an advantage vs. BC because of honor guards, but should I be aggressive (i.e. go over to his base, camp his lift, etc.), or more defensive (fend of his rush with ehg’s, turrets and/or beam) ?
I really don’t have the time and patience to figure it out through trial 'n error, so it would be nice if some good BC or PoR players could give me some general advice.
not particularly experienced with the prophet but…what has worked best in my experience is to go temple first, get imolation and hit his base while defending your own with honor guards as well as keeping new brutes from going off the lift with cleanse,a typical brute will do brute squads to hit you which makes your job easy, just make sure to target the chieftains brute SQUADS not CHIEFTAIN first, because you have defensive units he will put more in trying to take you out then you will him, the best moves and most feared things at the chieftains disposal imo are early hammer upgrade and the chopper to ram honor guards, if you get a chance to beam his chopper on the way to his base do it, as the chopper literally is the chieftains STRONGEST unit for killing your honorguards(assuming he doesnt go stun)…
in short:
prophet with imolation at his base-equivalent to his brute in terms of ability to stop building
honor guards at own base to kill his brute squads/chieftain
KILL THE CHOPPER!!!
if he goes stun, best to get up a turret or wait until you have 3+ honor guards to combat him
remember if he goes early stun he shouldnt have brute squads right away-if this is the case DO NOT let brutes get off his lift, stun chieftain+brute squads could cost you the game
if it seems you are losing the battle at home, bring back the prophet for support, remember a chieftain has no way to kill your prophet if you are smart enough to run away when your shield is down, his units are just too slow
prophet is a leader of attrition, abuse his shield and you will win the majority of your matches against the chieftain,
You want to defend the brute rush with PoR and honor guards. What brute players aim to do is keep you at your base long enough so they can get double summits up and spam banshees. Make 5-6 honor guards at most. If he stops porting brutes in, he is most likely trying to get his summits up. That is when you want to counter-attack and win the game. Keep your ghost alive to scout his base so you know when to attack.
Also - if the Brute has Inheritance, keep your honor guards away from him until you have like 3-4.
On Tundra and Release, make your temple 1 building later than when the Brute is making his. Defend with blessed Prophet and honor guards. Making 1 back turret is also nice in case he decides to just run his units around your base. Scout his base with your ghost and check when he’s upgrading his pads, base, or if he’s making another unit producing building. If he upgrades pads, that usually means he’s stopping brute production, so you can send your Prophet over to counter attack. Keep your honor guards defending until your Prophet reaches their base, then port them through and use them to kill supply pads and camp his lift.
Some BC players will make an early factory for wraiths. If they do that, you have to either attack them early before they get any wraiths out, or just defend with all your units and turrets until you push them back.
Brutes do more building damage than honor guards and the Brute Chieftain is faster than the Prophet, so if you both go temple 1st and attack each others bases, the BC will win.
On Chasms and Blood Gulch, temple 1st usually is a good idea. Chasms is such a small map so having your leader out 30 seconds earlier is a big deal. On BG, most BC players won’t rush your base right away, instead they’ll go for the supply elevators. So there’s no reason to delay your temple, meaning it’s best to go temple 1st and also try to take the supply elevators.
