Population Plummet

Steam would be included because you need to sign in to Xbox live to pay halo infinite just like halo MCC.

That metric is all players on halo infinite. Fortinite and other third party games don’t have this requirement , so any other 3rd party cross play game would not count pc or PlayStation players as they don’t sign in to Xbox live.

The data on the Xbox live store is barely useful at all lmao.

Oh xbox live store is horrible I agree.

Now you may be right, excuse my ignorance but (like an idiot) I wasn’t aware that Steam required an xbox live sign in to play. That is my bad

Still I find these numbers don’t exactly line up with ops claim of population plummet

Yeah you need to sign in with a Microsoft account to play halo on steam. So the Xbox store data would be all platforms for halo.

There is no question that Infinite has a large population right now. But the trends of the first month based on the steam detail which for us in the public is the most specific info available, should be alarming.

If steams population has fallen so much on the first month, where will the overall population be in 6? The game has hemorrhaged players on steam.

Now in my original post I do state console population is likely higher than steam because halo’s fanbase is primarily on console. The question that no one can truly answer is if the console base is following the same trend.

It is reasonable to assume it would be similar or the same. But no one truly knows except 343 and MS.

I don’t think Xbox will follow in the same trend as steam tbh, at least not for a long while. Like you said, it is a console game primarily, and if we look at the statistics for MCC on Steam, each time a new Halo game dropped it rose in populated for a day then dropped dramatically.

Now my concern with Infinite is its lack of content, and if something isn’t done within the next month or so, like adding in new maps, modes. I can see myself dropping the game because of this.

The game is very barebones, but it is one of the best Halo games we’ve gotten in a while so I’m still holding out hope

Not worth my time because it’s not there or you would post it here “champ”.

They are not taking the BTB issue seriously and that’s the biggest problem the game has right now, and had for 2 weeks. They are killing this game by not prioritizing this enough. A game breaking problem like this should be a day 1 fix.

We get it. Another post about population plummet and the game sucks. Stop yourself, not everyone wants to be as miserable as you. You throw excellent bait I’ll give you that

Fair enough. Given that 343 and MS will likely never publish hourly and daily data on console players we won’t know for a long time.

My suggestion is keep an eye on twitch metrics. In the current era of streaming, gaming influencers have measurable influence on the success of games. If current big streamers stick with the game or new streamers rise to a larger level of fame from halo, streaming and YouTube may be a reliable indicator on halo’s overall population.

If you need recent proof just look at among us last year.

I played my first btb 1v1 yesterday. lol. EDIT: no i mean like nobody disconnected. lol. it spawned a 1v1.

Btb is fun but yea I queued for an hour and got in 3 games, failed to join probably 6-8.

Ranked also sucks right now. Why am I playing games where the other team has a 77% chance of victory? Is halo tracker making this stat up? Why am I going down when I’m the only positive and the game is expecting by team to lose LOL. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not elite, and right now going through cold streak and playing like a bronzie. Didn’t feel like it in game, felt like some of these teams have no business ever queueing against trash like me. I’m ready to just start quitting to derank. Been winning 30% of ranked games this whole time. It seems like trueskill 2.0 sucks at matchmaking. Expected win rate should always be 50%.

Battle pass is underwhelming, paid and free versions.

Almost all playlists are unranked. Swat is okay but never cared for swat that much with weapons that are basically hit scan, projectile is just better. It’s dumb dying to a shot that is behind me. Who wants to play team slayer with ar and sidekick. Gag, None of my friends, we played a handful and then ignored the playlist. We’d rather win 20% of our games in ranked instead.

Desync and melee is getting more intolerable the more I play. Sad because the actual gameplay is the best since 3. But this crappy desync is making h3 net code look good at this point.

Weekly ultimate challenge is almost always dumb. The whole idea of having to do the hardest task last is just stupid. Win 5 ranked games where my win chance is always 35% or less - oh okay halo. Let me play an hour and get 1 win MAYBE because I have to play 20 minute oddball games to lose by 3 seconds thanks to some guy not picking up the ball while just killing someone, so frustrating. This is worse than reach ranked system where everyone played for themselves since you just had to put up 3 good games a day. At least I could just go 20-10 in slayer 3 times and call it a day within an hour. Not to mention the rewards haven’t been anything to write home about.

I’m about ready to take a break at the least.

Just go ahead and take a break.
I just play a few Infinite games a day and I’m back in MCC. And that’s aside from other games I play on the side.

The population drop this week was actually kinda shocking.

It went from the expected large population when the beta dropped, did the first week drop off as games typically do to a steady population that’s been going strong for weeks to a remarkably steep drop off this week.

This week was the deciding factor, so it’s most likely a result of the BTB issues that hit with the new playlists drop.

I just haven’t been able to play it because of work and when I finally do get my one day off a week I have a million chores to do. Plus as much as I like the game the grind is a joke and the unlocks are meh. Really hope they fix the store and keep adding stuff tho they’re on the right track for the most part.

the game has a very high player count on steam wtf you talking about ?

Why are you replying to me? I didn’t mention Steam but plenty of others in this thread have stated that the population is dropping off considerably already.

I actually couldn’t say it any better myself. 343 set in a room and decided to go this route. When all the little kids go on about how 343‘s listening to us and they decide to throw us a bone here and there it drives me crazy oh they’re listening to the community no they got caught and they know it they knew this wasn’t gonna work and they’re going to have to spend months upon months fixing it it should’ve never have been a problem to begin with. There’s not like past Halo games they had a roadmap from there’s not other games on the market that didn’t have a road map from 99% of these problems could’ve been avoided. And I really wanna be locked in a room whoever wrote this freaking net code.

mate you can look at battlefield 2042 and cod vangaurd charts they are simialar to halos except halo has a larger player count

Again…why are you replying to me about Steam and population of other games on Steam? I play on Xbox, I’ve never once looked at or intend to look at Steam charts, and haven’t mentioned the population on Steam. There are many other ppl on this thread that have mentioned Steam population specifically so may be you should reply to them and question their comments. Thanks.

even if you look at xbox chartscompared to other shooters halo infinite is doing very good

So the point here is that the population count on Steam continues to drop down, correct? If that is so, then I have to ask: Why am I not so surprised?

I think that’ll only continue to drop down bit by bit for then on and I know that there are several deciding factors, both in-game and out, as to why I think that the game’s player population is going to decline significantly over the course of a few months, including the console player population in addition to the Steam/PC player population.

That’s all well and good there, but when you consider all of the scrutiny that surrounds this game, then you have to ask yourself: How long do you think that it will stay that way?
