Population, My concerns...

I hope Halo 5’s population doesn’t die within the first week like Halo 4…
What do you guys think?

Wait! He isn’t dead!

Hard to say.

Halo 5 is shaped to be like the Halos of old, yet you can’t deny the damage that’s been done with Halo 4 and the MCC especially.

Right now in my opinion the hype is real. There looks to be a lot to do in Halo 5. I think it is going to be a success! I do not think people should be comparing Halo 4 to Halo 5.

It wont, the game is very very solid. Its the smoothest playing halo to date and the beta was way better than h4. Also its not going to have anywhere close to the same amount of issues as mcc since its no being outsourced.

I’m guessing the game will last at least 7-9 months without huge drops in population. I mean with other big titles it might be lower a little but i think it should be fine.

That’s reassuring

It will most likely do better than halo 4, but other than that, it’s too early to tell what will happen.

yeah…

I think the obsession with numbers is why there is no counter in the MCC, and why there shouldn’t be a counter in H5. People too often let those numbers sway their opinions.

Well we don’t even know if 343 is gonna include a population indicator for halo 5 so who knows…

That depends on what offerings they have outside of Campaign and Warzone/Arena, which they’ve so vehemently rammed down our throats so far that Locke’s head is coming out of my axx.

Doubt it will be a Halo 3 population wise, Im sure itll do better than Halo 4 by far from what we have heard.

Not doing better than Halo 4 would be an achievement quite frankly.

It will be fine and have a healthy population for a while.

I’d still say its closer to Halo 4, but with a decent mix of old Halos.

Besides sprint, how else is Halo 5 like 4?

Gameplay reasons if you can.

  • There are ways 343 can keep the population up which I have listed here

I think it will stay strong. It has ALOT going for it and they’ve done a great job of incorporating lots of new-player friendly systems into a more traditional Halo style. Warzone (adding AI too) a powerful AR starting weapon (and a skill based utility magnum to replace the BR for the competitive types), default control scheme, etc.

The things that will really ensure longevity are:

  • How good the ranking system is (how accurately it judges and matches with players of similar skill, accidentally put me into a game with friendly thumbless noobs and I will remorselessly go +25 in the MCC unless I’m in a mood to muck around haha) and if it displays ranks proudly in all lobbys/loading screens so that they really mean something (and it honestly also needs a progression system for the less competitive players who like to also progress, similar to Halo 3’s EXP system that had named ranks and symbols that displayd in lobby. - Forge, we don’t have details yet but if the forge is as good as they say and if the community really gets behind it, this will really reinforce longevity and this feeds into the next point. - Custom games, obviously a way to join public custom games would be a HUGE factor as people would be playing Jenga, Fat Kid and Griffball all day on that thing + whatever else people come up with in forge. There’d even be room for a competitive scene in a custom games browser if a popular set of forged maps/game variants (possibly without sprint, for all those traditionalists) became prevalent. - How addictive the REQ packs are. I also hope they’ve thought of a way to stop people ‘burning out’ on warzone (not wanting to jump into warzone because they’re out of decent REQ cards). - Community/Playlist support. If there’s an in-game hub dedicated to showing the best clips of the day, the best screenshots, the latest and most popular forge maps and custom game variants (important!), as well as regular playlist updates based on demand.Sorry about all my bracketing, you can get an insight into how my mind works with ideas coming from ideas.

halo 5 has 10 days to figure out its population before CoD Blops 3 drops. 10 days is all halo 5 has to find its groove.

I think with Halo 5 going T for Teen this gives it even more availability so the numbers should not be so bad.

I think it will definitely last longer than Halo 4 did
