Except that what appears to actually be happening is a team of mostly Diamonds against a team of one Onyx and a bunch of Silvers.
It could just be my personal experience because I can’t actually see what the matchmaking is doing. But there are enough people complaining that it’s obviously apparent that something with the matchmaking in non “ranked” playlists is messed up.
I’ve had times partying up with a full team of 4 where I was get best one in the group and we got matched up against much tougher teams more often than not compared to when I would solo queue. Anyone else experience that?
Honestly, I feel like the SBMM is so engrained into every detail of this game (challenges, battle pass, EVERYTHING) that they will likely never change it. It is what it is. They’ll attempt to ‘fix’ everything but this.
Yes, and I think the explanation is in Trueskill 2 itself. It ASSUMES that a party’s average MMR is higher than it actually is because you’re partied. Once you play so many games with those individuals, it will more correctly match your party’s MMR with the opponent. Still, to keep matchmaking times down, it has to make exceptions somewhere, so it may be average MMR.
That’s pretty much what they did with Halo 5. Made the game really tiring to keep playing in the long run. It’s just no fun to have a game that asks you to play in super sweaty tryhard mode 100% of the time with no breaks.
I do agree the population has dropped and there are a lot of fan favourite game modes/ forge that need to be added and I defiantly believe that if they did add the following playlist the active player base will rise.
Forge
Infection
FFA
GriffBall
Sniper shotty
king of the hill
invasion (kind of mode)
However those are my onion of what I believe would make social / custom games more fun as it takes away the “competitive” aspect away and will allow player to enjoy the game more with out having to feel like its a HCS final.
Population has dropped, thats a fact. And it will drop even more.
SBMM is for sure one of the issues, but i dont think its the biggest one.
Desync, Lag, Hit registration due to connection issues. Missing gamemodes that should have been there since the beginning like infection, elimination, warzone, firefight. BTB not working.
Ranking system that favors cheating with smurf accounts and so many other issues.
Now add also SBMM in social and there you are. Enough is enough.
I reached SR152 in Halo 5. I wasnt active in the Forum.
Now im playing Halo Infinite but it feels like i spent more time in the forum than playing halo infinite.
SBMM was always there in some form for ranked matchmaking. But i dont remember that warzone in Halo 5 had SBMM. Also social matchmaking in halo 5, if there was SBMM active, than it was not as weigthed as it is here in Halo Infinite.
Im not saying SBMM is a bad system. For an average player like me (platinum) it works good. But there are a lot of people that cant enjoy social because of SBMM.
Have you ever played Destiny 2 Control matches? I can give you a tip: you don’t want this to happen.
SBMM, while not incredibly strict or abusive such as in the recent CoD games, is a good feature when it’s toned accordingly. The sweatiness of Infinite depends on the time when you play too. Playing outside the prime time is a good choice if you can do it.
Sooooo, you’re playing a first person shooter to not compete? What exactly are you doing then? What do you hope to get from a match?
It boils down to you don’t like losing and facing lesser ranks obviously makes winning easier. Because if it wasn’t about winning, then who cares if you lose by 1 or 25.
And if you take SBMM out of the mix, those at the bottom of the barrel will be matched up against better players nearly all of the time and that is not cool.
Well I dropped off because of how they neutered playslists.
Lack of customisation freedom.
Small map pool.
And an outrageous store.
Those are the reasons I’m not logging in 3 to 6 nights a week.
If there was 2 covie maps for btb and arena.
Mcc style match making composer
And I could put reach parts on my mk7 core id likely be still playing.
Halo is a shooter where the idea is to shoot the other team before they shoot you. Also, you’re not going to win all the time. Build a bridge and get over it. Don’t want SBMM? Go play with bots. Sorry but it’s really funny watching people conjure up any old reason as to why they lose. I play to win. That’s the frigging point. These are the same people who run off doing God knows what while people like me are trying to win the game. If you can’t hang…then that sounds like a “you” problem.
Yeah, desync and lag are an issue but it’s nowhere near as bad as some claim . And I’m in a pretty rural area. There are much bigger issues at hand imo. This isn’t targeting any particular individual so don’t get all huffy plz. Just my two cents.
It’s part of it. But as of right now its because the game lacks more content, a LOT of it, hell we can’t even replay campaign missions without making an entire new save, there’s also the issue of the horrendous performance, and rubber banding in pc. The way the BP progression works, and the overpriced store dicentived people too
