I cant say I’ve noticed the sbmm you can always tell by the length of time it takes to search for a match , I played black ops cold war so i know what hardcore sbmm is
I just stay in ranked because SBMM makes socials just as sweaty if not more so. I’d like to chill out and mess around in quickplay but that is so damn hard to do when sweaty Sam is out here trying to win a tournament while I’m trying to do something stupid that might end up cool
over 600 games played here, sbmm is really not that big of an issue.
Anyone complaining about sbmm has played too much CoD in the past 3 years and has forgotten what sbmm is actually for and the fact that its been around for over a decade.
These are the same people who complain after losing 1 game. They just want every lobby to be an EZ stomp and have a winge when its not. Theres a difference between playing casually and getting upset that you cant go 20-2 every game.
only time i notice it is when im in ranked and i have 2 gold and 1 plat teammate vs 4 ONXY and im a diamond 5… 10 matches with 0 progression so i never touched ranked after that
A lot of people are saying this but personally I haven’t noticed. I’ve had plenty of close sweaty matches, but also plenty of times giving and receiving a Steaktacular.
Can confirm most of my friends have stopped playing because the game was too hard (aka) not fun to play. It’s a fact it’s not debatable. SBMM have been ruining FPS games for some time now.
How come so many think social some how means “easy” games? Pretty sure not many players go into games like yeah I sure ain’t trying win, just going to run around and die a lot… Social just means there is a wide window of possible player matches. Doesn’t mean you are going to be matched with lower skilled players you will beat easily. Majority of players go into games with the mind set to win. Halo has always been competitive even in social. I would say the population is dropping because, #1. it’s a hard game, Infinite has the toughest aiming mechanics yet, I have played quite a bit and I would say I am still not quite used to it. #2. Only progressing through challenges is pretty lame. You can do really great in a game and gain little as little as 50xp if you didn’t get any challenges and have played a lot of games. Those two factors are probably the biggest reason players don’t really want to play. I finished all this week’s weekly challenges and havent played since as now I am working on MCC challenges.
and assault the mode griffball is built off of.
I have to disagree I cant notice this on halo atal, also I think your just thinking of modern warfare and cold war not all fps shooters have noticable sbmm , only those 2 games mentioned above ive ever stopped playing due to sbmm
Same I’ve had a mixture. I’ve had a few 49-50 team slayer matches but then next game i get a steaktacular , if it was hardcore sbmm youd get everybody on near enough 1.00 kd and every (slayer) match like 48-50 and 49-50 ect
Halo 5 had this too. Did you try to play that game last year? It was a terrible experience.
Now listen, I’m super competitive, but my friends aren’t. I will keep playing, but they can’t play with me without going negative pretty much, and they won’t play by themselves. The stupid SBMM is too strict for these kind of parties, has been for years.
I’m not trying to pub stomp necessarily, but it’s been ruining playing with friends within a certain skill gap.
Never did we think about this in the times of CoD 4, MW2 or Halo 3. It was just pure fun back then. Yeah you did get your -Yoink!- handed to you sometime even if you were good, just not every game. It’s tiring and a lot of people in their 30’s up just aren’t up for that. But the sad truth is they would play were it different.
You know what the problem is? Its people like you thinking they should be able to beat other players without actually being good at the game. There is no incentive to get better at the game, because you will always play vs similarly skilled players.
Whats the point in even trying to improve? SBMM in every playlist kills the longevity of a game because the feeling of getting better at it does not exist without comparison.
If you want 100% balanced games play ranked. Thats what its for. Why are new or bad players always so scared of ranked? Its the perfect place to be.
Social should be for everyone with no SBMM.
Hmmm… I believe I’d rather play people more around my level then it be completely random who gets into my game. Most of which will probably become total steam rolls because one team will just have way better players…
But in reality, I’d rather ask for a server list and community created servers instead that people can join. This is where the real casual servers will exists. With a Favorites list you can tag on servers ( as well as ingore list ) so you can quickly find your favorites.
This game has no skill based match making. You’re just not performing well lately and feel you must win every time. I don’t blame you that’s a natural feeling to have these days when SBMM exists, you’re never sure.
This game doesn’t, match making instant. Lobbies are random each time you can tell by your team or enemy team’s skill. Match making being as fast as it is being the definitive proof SBMM isn’t there.
I refuse to play games with SBMM, but halo i do despite it’s flaws because its a game i can have consistent fun. Every match is actually random. 100 hours of play time and stomping on my end, rarely encounter tryhards obnoxiously crouching for example, like on ranked.
If match making was suddenly significantly slower, ping being inconsistent, lobbies start being sweaty. That’s when you know SBMM was added.
The game absolutely does have SBMM in ALL modes. Yes it even counts Bot Bootcamp. There was a sad post by some guy on Reddit that said he initially farmed Bot Bootcamp when he started for 100 matches straight for some silly reason. Then when he tries to play Multiplayer for real he kept getting destroyed. Lost every Ranked placement match with horrible K/D ratio’s, and it still placed him in Diamond 1 lol. Cause it thought he was a god for stomping the weak bots haha. Poor dude couldn’t play the game at all basically unless he joined low skill friends games.
Regardless if the SBMM is to loose or to strict, there definitely is an underlying issue making each game feel like a sweat fest. Other games including previous Halo titles (Mainly Halo 3, Reach and 4. Maybe Halo 2 but I didn’t play it online back in the day so I can’t really say) had better systems put in place and the games felt way more fun to play as far as balancing was concerned. It’s not even just with Infinite but I don’t understand how companies years ago had this figured out but companies nowadays have such a hard time with it. Social is for fun and casual play and ranked is for the competitive play so tweak your system to actually follow those guidelines.
Another thing that would help is having a matchmaking filter that you could choose your preference if you wanted a more balanced match, a match with better connection, or just by quickest search. Halo 3 and even Halo 5 had this system (Maybe Reach did too but I can’t remember). It wouldn’t fully fix the issue but it would help at least giving players a preference on searching for the players they want to match up with.
I mean its probably part of the reason why the population is dropping, but my money is on the notion that this game is just the most bare bones Halo experience you could possibly get. Hell, you cant even play campaign with your friends or family at all. That alone has probably driven away a good chunk of players.
I was always under impression SBMM has always been in social. Hence why you got stuck at levels in H3 when you played a tonne of social.
Personally I think if SBMM wasn’t in social the game would be a nightmare. I think the issue lies more along the lack of playlists and other factors that may cause issues like weapon/maps/location.
I know so many friends over the last 20 years who don’t play Halo due to it being too hard. The issue is he game doesn’t have enough places for lower skilled players to play.
That’s every game.
TBH in social i do not worry about the wins. I mainly go for style.
