Population counter

I would like to see this return in halo 5. You can tell which playlists are the most populated, leading to finding matches quicker.

for those of you who don’t know. The counter was removed in MCC because people used it against 343 to show how quickly the population dropped in halo 4. I think they should just add it back. So what people are judging how quickly the population dropped. They are doing it with MCC anyway through the top 10 most played games and judging MCC’s population through other games on the list.

who else wants this back?

I cant even believe they did it that way. Talk about covering up problems rather than addressing them. It needs to come back.

They tend to do too much covering up of things. We wouldn’t of found out of the absent of Splitscreen if someone hasn’t found out.

I missed where this was said and confirmed by 343. Can you provide a source please?

The numbers aren’t the only thing that defines the success of the game. They matter, but when people spend to much time comparing numbers, it can create some undeserved negativity. People might look at H5’s numbers and if they aren’t as high as other games, or Halo during the glory days, you’ll have people running around lighting fires claiming that Halo 5 is a failure and that Halo is still dead if not dying.

Trust me we don’t need population counters. We need a solid game with a solid community playing it.

They never actually said that, but that’s obvious what the case was. What Other reason would they just remove it

Idc about numbers either. But a counter kinda does matter because we might get into a playlist where literally no one is playing it and not realize it after 1 hour of searching.

The numbers do matter in an online multiplayer game like halo. If this was something like Tomb raider you’d have a point however with no one to play online what’s the point in playing online multiplayer?

Or maybe, you know, it’s hard to monitor the population in several different playlists surrounding several different games.
I mean, if the issues that arose were the cause, why was the counter absent at launch before the issues reared it’s ugly head?

No, it’s not “obvious” at all. Jumping to conclusions and making assumptions is never a good way to start a discussion.

In light of that, I’m going to lock this.
