Theres alot of hate online against 343 for the monetisation of what used to be core customisation, but as someone who works in customer sales and analytics design I cant wrap my head around it.
Its not that there selling out, there barely trying to sell at all, its not even an effort.
Of the weapons in the game, only the UNSC are customizable, with limited weapon skins.
Of the vehicles in the game, only the UNSC are customizable, with only 1 decoration slot despite the decorations affecting multiple parts of the model (an example would be you can equip the warthogs tyres or a windshield, but not both).
Of the stances, there only shown at the end of games, with no intro stance available.
Of the armours, with the current colours there are feasibly thousands to millions of colour combinations, but after 6 months of skins, I (and likely many others) still dont have access to the skins we used to use in previous games (mine for example was dark green with brown highlights).
And of all this, what is available to buy, you cant buy, because of a maddening plan to lock 95% of all there products behind a weekly rotating window thats parading as a shop front.
The most annoying part isnt that there trying to sell to us as customers, to me its that they are barely putting any effort into it.

I agree they could have added skins for the other weapons and vehicles and that the vehicles could use more modification slots. Its almost like they got lazy and figured theyd make enough money off what they have so stopped at human weapons and armor.

HCS Skins, Visors, and weapon/vehicle skins are not able to be applied to the actual armor you customize, but are instead “Kits” that reduce their value overall.

That part get’s me is how sorry the bundles are. Some of them are just a random mash up of items. Other seem a bit more themed (Cat Ear, Cat Charm and Kat Charm). But it blows my mind they don’t have simpler bundles. Something like 5 armor coatings or 5 visors, or a bunch of charms etc. There bundles are arranged in a way where you probably have to buy many different things to get a full set.
For example: Only Kat, Jorge and Emile’s charms were available S1… ya know… in “Heroes of Reach…” None of them were in the Battlepass. 2 of them were store items (Kat’s bundle made sense admittedly), but Jorge’s (beyond being called the “Grenadier Pack” named after his armor), consisted of a:
- Jorge charm (good)
- Jorge emblem (good)
- A chest piece for Mk. 7 and NOT Mk. 5… (at least it was a heavy chest plate)
- A Windshield armor piece for your warthog (even though Jorge was the only member of Noble team incapable of entering a warthog…)
EDIT: And Emile’s charm is was part of Tactical Ops… a mode where the primary gun was a BR. You’d think we should have got Carter or Jun… While Emiles is reserved for infenction or shotty snipers.
It makes no sense.

Lol kits literally stopped me from getting a pack or two once I learned you can’t do anything to them. Shame because those skins are sick.

It was SUCH a disappointment too.
I have always had a black-&-gold color scheme since Halo 2 and seeing SpaceStation Gaming’s kit made me hyped that I would get to replicate that color scheme PLUS have it be polished and with a camo pattern . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . only for it to end up being a preset kit and not an actual bundle of goodies.
They should be updated to be bundles and NOT kits, because those skins and visors are AMAZING and would be great things to be universal pack skins.

Yeah, the thing about kits is that they don’t even make sense. If 343 want esports teams to were a “uniform” just… have them all equip the same items from the bundle? Like you can look exactly like Kat without using her kit.

Kits are kinda pointless anyway, since you can become the character by just wearing all the right armor pieces.
They literally waste a slot of a battle-pass tier AND they are inaccurate
- Kat doesn’t have a robot arm UNLESS you apply one on your Spartan BUT it is the wrong model.
- Jorge doesn’t have both wrists equipped with the UA/Bracer attachment
- Carter is missing his butt pack

Who knows… I presume they’ll be added in somewhere along the lines, a good chunk of them. Hell, I just want normal purple covenant vehicles back lol.
Coats are the worst offense though. If you had a very specific set up in mind, the chance of a 343i employee picking that set up is probably on par with your chances of winning the lottery.

Kits really shouldve been like “packs”, you buy a kit and you can use its parts, like a “Lego” kit. as of right now theyre just glorified skins, useless considering that originally we could just recreate that look regardless, its redundant as hell on a system like this.
